Lets say a person is put in prison for dealing rock. That's a non-violent offense that a person got knocked for, but he might have been on some rah-rah shit that he never got knocked for(and which he would have continued if out on the streets).

The same dope boy who gets knocked at 3pm, might have been the cat with the gun in the club at 2am. In some cases, the only thing they can hang on gangs are drug charges. Folks won't even talk about shootings and robberies, so those cases can remain open.

If you see that, you can see how just locking up every fucking body involved with criminal activity can reduce crime. It's bullshit, but it's a police state tactic that can lower crime.

That's why I don't argue the success of a police state. They work, but fucking living in one. And yes, more people have to vote, but they have to be educated about the issues they vote on. A good number of people within community wanted these tough laws that helped start the police state. Look at how black folks loooooooooved Clinton. FBI: Violent crime drops, reaches 1970s level

U.S. violent crimes including murders fell 4.4 percent in 2013 to their lowest number since the 1970s, continuing a decades-long downturn, the FBI said on Monday.

The law enforcement agency's annual Crime in the United States report showed the country had an estimated 1.16 million violent crimes last year, the lowest number since 1.09 million were recorded in 1978.

All types of violent crimes were lower, with murder and non-negligent manslaughter off 4.4 percent to 14,196, the lowest figure since 1968. Rape was down 6.3 percent and robbery fell 2.8 percent, the Federal Bureau of Investigation data showed.

James Alan Fox, a criminologist at Northeastern University in Boston, said there was a variety of factors behind the decline in violent crime in recent decades, including the United States having the highest rate of imprisonment in the world.

He said an aging population and improved police tactics also played a role, along with the increased use of security cameras and the pervasive use of phones to take videos.

"It's hard for criminals to do anything without being caught on video," Fox said.

You just backed up what I said(and what my source for stats also proved). The prison industry really got booming in the 1990s, until then, crime was increasing. You said violent crime has been falling since the 1970s. You were wrong. After the 'tough on crime' 90s, it has fallen to levels of the '70s.

How can places with more draconian laws have higher crime? Perhaps because they just have high crime to begin with. For example, Cleveland has a lot tougher policing than other areas in NE Ohio, and Cleveland has a lot more crime. Cleveland was anti-gun when other areas weren't, yet Cleveland had a shit load more gun crimes.

Saying this country is a police state is not right-wing shit. The U.S. locks up more people than China and Russia. That says a lot. It's frightening. I've already pointed out how non-violent criminals can also commit violent crimes. It's not as big a leap for a drug dealer to commit a crime as it is for a regular Joe.

So when one says black crime is falling, one can also say the tactics put in place in the 'killer 90s' worked. Why is white crime rising? Because they haven't been targeted.
