You put love in kids, with the right amount of discipline, and not that toxic shit, the kids come out alright.
Kids today have it easy with too much privilege to do what they want without any consequences but as soon as you take something from them as punishment they want to kill a parent for doing so.
People always said beating your child is some slavery shit but that parent tried disciplining his kid that caused him his demise.
Those kids will forever regret killing their father and you can't redo shit once you forever make a tragic move like that.

A lot of people that been disciplined the old school way turned out fine.

Just because they arent out murdering doesnt mean they are fine. Old school can mean anything.
1. Parents have to stop equating love with giving kids everything they want, or everything they didn't have coming up.
2. Parents have to monitor kids access to all influences. TV, social, music/movies, who they're allowed to befriend, where they are at all times.
3. Parents have to introduce positive pastimes and influences. Direct them to academic teams, not only athletics. Martial arts training for discipline and self defense. Be active in planning their future, not leaving it up to a guidance counselor or coach.
4. Expose them to the world outside their community. Have real social networks beyond school and friends. Church/whatever religion groups, or afterschool groups based on their interests to keep them busy rather than gangs.
5. There's no rule that says your kids have to be cool to be popular. Teach them to make trends rather than follow them.

I've never been down right mad at my parents for any reason nor has the thought of killing them ever entered my mind.
If I'd killed my father on earth I'd be worried about that ass kicking I would received when I hit them pearly gates or down town in hell,just to find out he's been down there kicking Lucifer's ass in pool.

You know damn well everybody dont care for their kids the same way. Aint no one right way, but if your kids kill you, you did something wrong.
Then how do you measure that or know anybody that are bat shit crazy after being disciplined by their parents back then?

Im in the middle being born in the late 80s and coming up into this generation being from old school and new school and having access to all of that shit in my teens and never have I thought about killing myself or my parents.
Kids today have way more privilege than kids that were born back then. There's no structure or discipline for today's kids and now the cops have to be involved because the parents aren't doing their jobs. That's why curfew exist and have been signed into law permanently in my state of PA.

Ain't shit new under the sun. Kids been kiling parents, parents killing kids, siblings, etc. Each generation shocked at humans being humans. 
Not just black kids, I think these younger generation brains are fried as the result of aggressive marketing at earlier and earlier ages prepping them to be selfish and spoiled to the point that if they don't get what they want or are made to do something they don't want to do, many of then go into a rage.
This is the result of integration. You now copying what other people do.
And a lot of them ended up in prison.
