She is correct, but this message has been stated since the birth of social media, but for some reason, I thought this was a skit (as most post are now a days) and some whyte dude was gonna come out and give her a kiss and call her Honey.

The problem is, we do not control our own self image in the media. Dominant society chooses to showcase and promote ghetto behavior because it caters to a negative representation that serves their agenda for making black people a permanent under class.
There is a reason they do not engage the intellectuals of our community. It's always athletes or entertains. At best they'll prop up a coon like Candace Owens because she'll deliver the same anti-black rhetoric they support.

Listen, I’m going to say this I don’t support that behavior all the time, but it needs to be in your back pocket just in case. I grew up in the hood and the hood… (the pork n beans projects in Miami Florida). Avoided some shit and I’ve been through some shit but it made me a better person. Also if somebody step to me the wrong way that hood shit is in my back pocket (break in case of emergency)

We would prefer to watch an unfunny comedian talk about unfunny comedians from a prior generation than watch anything that would uplift us. The media (TV, news, movies, etc..) doesn’t have as much control over our image to today, and it’s arguable that we have more control of our image today than anytime in history.
Social media gives us that flexibility. However, many of us have accepted certain aspects we didn’t shouldn’t be accepting at all.
People aren’t watching TV or the news like that now of days. They get all their info from social media, but within the realm of these platforms exists groups/sub-groups that explicitly shows the worst side of us.

Seems like every few weeks or months some variant of this conversation occurs. I agree that the media/social is a major part of the problem and that we currently have more control over our cultural images than ever before. But, there are still sooooooo many of us desperate to come up that they're willing to sell out and perpetrate whatever rhetoric or content will sell and produce the most income. We all know negative images and controversial or inflammatory messages sell the best.
I'm going to say this. I hate that ghetto black or hood black is a standard for blackness. That if you don't come from the ghetto or the hood then somehow your black card is likely to get revoked.
It's reasons like this that you have people like Theo trying to hang out down the way in a projects, trying to prove their blackness. Your parents put you in a position where you didn't have to be down there, because everybody down there don't want to be down there or wishes there was a way out
