Bitcoins? Explain. How do you get money from them? How does it work?

How do you get them, what gives them value? WHO created them and what makes it legit?

Yea i call myself looking it up, and didnt even understand what it is. I need it broken down barney style:confused:

I see ya'll obsessed with bitcoins on bgol...

It might be just too much for you guys, frankly I worry when such currencies become so mainstream, it's for a purpose and having every joe using it defeats the whole thing.

In my mind anyways.

But that's direction it's going... mainstream. I think many of us are trying to get on board before Walmart does. We need some "For Dummies" style tutorial before taking that leap.

It occurs to me that the interest in bitcoins is purely speculative.

There is nothing complicated about it.But since you people really have no use for it, it seems complex.

Anyways let's see where this goes.

They had a 7 video series on YouTube explaining the different aspects of it completely. If I can find it I'll post it.

Sent from Andromeda...light years away.

Oh lord another BGOL dude with a superiority complex.

Subbed. I think we should create a thread dedicated to bitcoin and all other crypto-currencies.

Funny thing is, there probably is one as I'm typing this.

Gentleman, I see I should have had the mods sticky this on the main board vs. the Business & Networking Board.

I started it there because I wanted the people that really were not looking to be "tire kickers" to go over there and hash it out.

Everything you will need to know is going to end up here, in one centralized location: The Official BGOL Guide to Decrypting Digital Curency

Don't be a fool...electronic funds aren't new and they aren't rocket science.

Bitcoins are a scam and they are going to break the pockets of a whole lot
of people eager to part with their real world money to acquire them.

Real hustlas get dough and keep getting dough no matter what form it's in.

...but a fool and his dough are easily parted...don't be a fool bgol.

Just my two cents.

This! :smh:

Why even reply?

tru...I ain't gone lie but my common sense is tingling and the mere fact
you could not just explain it in one or two sentences say's a whole lot.

Anything new should set off your spidey senses. I didn't say I couldn't explain it. I have in other threads. It just that people don't even get the basic fact that Bitcoin and bitcoin are two different things.

Bitcoin is a protocol. It's not a currency. (Email is a protocol. TCP/IP is a protocol. FTP is a protocol).

bitcoin is programmable money that can be delivered though Bitcoin. But Bitcoin can be used (and it used) for much more than sending "money".

As a protocol it's already processing more money daily than western union and paypal. Bitcoin is not going anywhere. Bitcoin is similar to the internet in the mid-late 90s. You're going to see booms and busts and bubbles.. but this is a paradigm shift.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM.....

It sounds like a scam because you don't understand it? Using the word Bitcoin loosely already displays that you don't understand it.

You asked for a quick explanation and I gave you one.

If you want to more thoroughly understand it, read this:

It's the best short synopsis on it.

http://www.michaelnielsen.org/ddi/how-the-bitcoin-protocol-actually-works/

You sound like someone in the mid 90s saying the internet is a scam! Just because somethng is new and you don't understand doesn't mean it's a scam man :smh:

That's like saying the email protocol is a scam. You can get scammed by email but there is nothing inherently "scammy" about the protocol. Ironicaly, the Bitcoin protocol is THE most transparent protocol ever developed. Read the post in the link I gave and you will understand that. Being non-technical, a lot of it will go way over your head, but he's written it in a way that a laymen should be able to easily get it.

Just the simple fact that you're comparing bitcoins to fucking VISA illustrates you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Ignorant people shouldn't be arrogant.

Being informed never hurt anyone. If "bitcoins" or "TITcoins" are going to have a measurable financial impact on the global economy, then it is our responsibility to at least be aware of what is happening in the market. You can't play the game if you don't know where or how the game is being played.

INSTEAD OF USING MY DEBIT CARD WITH VISA/MC or other logo on it, that
is guaranteed, protected and INSURED:hmm: I stupidly roll the dice and
take my real money and buy magic bitcoins:hmm:

.

Instead of using gold, you want me to use fiat currency?

Instead of fiat currency, you want me to walk around with a check book?

Instead of a check book, you want me to walk around with a debit card?

See how easy that was?

The times change with technology. You're cool with me but you sound like my old ass uncle who still keeps cash under his bed and uses money orders for everything

This link is some BULLSHIT wayyyyy to much explaining with no final
explanation except "WE COLLECTIVELY ARE THE BANK!":

Before there were credit cards, you needed a thorough explanation if you didn't work in the field. It's simple to you now because you grew up with one in your hand. And still, you in particular problem don't fully understand how a credit card actually works fundamentally.

You should really hear yourself. It's not the world's fault that you in particular don't understand new technology. It takes time before new technology becomes a mass market product or process. It has to cross chasms. It's not a mass market adopted technology at this point.

Don't pout that other people get it and you don't.

And that link says nothing about "we are the bank". It's a technical look at some of the layers of the protocol. And if you think the most significant impact that this has is on 'money', you're still thinking about bitcoin and not understanding the power of Bitcoin.

I'm trying to help you muthafucka. You're the one asking for help remember

And you shouldn't have even responded until you read the damn link. That's the problem with some of you cats. You have your mind made up and just want to argue.

I'm not going to respond to you anymore. Read up and educate yourself if you want... makes no difference to me what you think about it.

I just just wanted to know about the hype and how it works. Doesn't mean I'm going to go break the bank on the shit.

There is going to be a coordinated effort by big banks(FED) to either destroy or demonize it. Using the media.

Example

http://www.latimes.com/business/hil...-crash-20131207,0,7011276.story#axzz2mogxRd8R

The Chinese Central bank squeezed the hell out of it. You have to be able to hedge this bitch. Its erratic.

I have starting watching it a little. It moves extremely fast , faster than the news feeds pumping it up. Or telling you to dump it.

There are a couple of CFD brokers with demo platforms. Havent tried it.

First rule of the game for real hustlas is don't follow the masses and the crowds. The crowds are like herds of sheep. They follow they don't lead. Yelling scam is the first sign of fear and misinformation. Dig deep. Research. Dig deep some more. Research. Listen to both sides. Listen to those who have been successful. The pioneers and visionaries are all risk takers.

The technology will always change. The fundamentals never change. It's a mentality.

Funniest thing about Bitcoin going "pop" .

A criminal enterprise falling started the rally itself.
Outside the box living.

:lol::rolleyes:

Amazing the same logic that has my skepticism on high
is the same argument you katz are using.

At the end of the day someone is making real everyday MONEY$$$$
currency from "B"..."b"itcoins while we are here arguing the value
and future of bitcoins.:hmm::smh:

I'm trying to make MONEY not Bitcoins!

...NOT one of you so called smart guys can explain why I would
take my real profits, shares or money and trade or buy with bitcoin.:smh:

Shits a scam...:hmm:

I'm very proud to be hated for saying it!

No prob. You say it's a scam I guess it's a scam then. You have a very healthy skepticism. Cynicism has always been applauded by those who are more prudent traditional and risk averse.

Volatile markets are definitely not for the squeamish. Aggressive investors with disposable income can make the riskier newer more aggressive market moves.

I'm just checking the stuff out myself. High speculative risks can mean high rewards or a crash and burn. Currency markets can be risky.
