Bill Simmons HBO show cancelled

Bill was an immensely entertaining writer and trailblazer in his genre... and his work at Grantland is nothing short of awesome.. But carrying a tv show alone just aint his thing.

Oh.. The creation of the platform itself. Writing and the 30 for 30 series. They have put out some flat out outstanding works.

Dude is okay on tv... what he really needed was Jalen and Jacoby to come out swinging. HBO should have given the show time find its legs... it could definitely have been great once they figured out the format.

I like him but it just didn't work...

and honestly I never watched it and I have HBO.

However some of the interviews were VERY VERY good and reminiscent of his best podcasts (which is his REAL strength)

He should have tried to stick with the podcast format more and just done straight interviews.

What stood out to you most? I saw some clips from the first couple of weeks and forgot about it. Nerever saw an interview except, I think, Charles Barkley very early on.

When he got Affleck to spaz out I thought was good, Chris Bosh, Nas, Durant, Costas and he put some really smart people together (Gladwell, etc.), and some GREAT actors but they needed the right producers to actually craft a SHOW...

It looked rushed and like they were learning as they go, HBO audience aint got time for all that.

Cool, I'll check some of those out-- Haven't seen a Nas interview in a long time, Gladwell is always good and Costas is pretty smart. I remember hearing about the Bosh one, too.

Cris Collinsworth scored 36 touchdowns in his impressive NFL career, but he may have saved his hardest spike for Monday.

The NBC analyst and retired wide receiver, who announced the Seahawks’ thrilling 31-24 win in New England on Sunday night, shot back viciously after one noteworthy Patriots fan criticized him on Twitter.

Bill Simmons, the Boston Sports Guy who became ESPN star who became ESPN outcast who became HBO star, had called out Collinsworth on Sunday for heaping too much praise on Seattle’s offensive line.

Somebody needs to gently break the news to Collinsworth that the Pats have a weak front 7 and that's why Seattle's o-line looks good.

A day later, Collinsworth showed he was taking Simmons’ opinion with a grain of salt, recalling how “Any Given Wednesday” — the talk show that HBO had given Simmons — was canceled earlier this month, prematurely ending the experiment after just 17 episodes.

While Twitter adored the exchange, Collinsworth apparently didn’t, later deleting his rejoinder.
