Bill Russell 6th NBA Championship Highlights (Digitally Restored)

If Dirk played at the 60s pace, it's over. Don't even need a 3pth line. He is 7ft pushing the ball. His sig shot is one of the best in NBA history. Pace adjusted, Bill gets 10 rebounds.

MJ hit me hard with The Shot. But I would never say he couldn't dominate today. Bill? He just couldn't. Top 3?
Wilt, Kareem, Hakeem easily got top 3 over him.. Than some would go with shaq and moses over him.. I stay saying Russ mite not be in the top 5 of greatest centers especially when it come to both sides of the court

Gene is actually from Cleveland which makes him more of a cav fan than you...who said he a mj fan maybe he a lebron fan that don't think Russell is top 3 center... Once again why are you mentioning mj in a bill Russell center debate..ur infuated with mj this thread is not about him stick to the subject

Gene is from Cleveland but he's called MJ GOAT and considers the low scoring 90s the best era of bball.

And if MJ fans come in this thread making asinine comments based on their MJ bias of course Ima bring it up.

Dudes dont even realize I posted a 2nd vid destroying their talking points.

Only MJ fans come with the "Bill Russell aint Top 5" talk.

People are fucking nuts. He was a top 5 center 45-50 years ago. His pace-adjusted numbers put him at about 12 points and 12 boards a game. Shooting like 44 percent for a big man. :hmm:

How is that top 5? No other center mention as GOAT as such low numbers. When you adjust Wilt's stats, he still has numbers that jump out with over 25pts per, 12 boards, and over 55 percent from the field.

I see more and more people speaking out on this Russell nonsense. As the dinosaurs go away and new blood watches actual video, they going to be looking at people like :hmm: when they mention Bill even being top 10.

But why do you care if somebody thinks mj is the goat, what does that have to when talking about centers? We talking about big men.. If somebody said bird was the goat and had the same opinion about Russell as far as him not being top 5 would it matter? What if they said wilt was the goat? Kareem? Magic?

Like I said he easily not top 3.. There's at least 2 others that will bump him out of top 5...he was a great defense side guy but offensive skills were Jus's ok

You'd have to have superior talent/coaching around Bill(like his Celtic teams did) in order to put him against other superstar centers and come out on top. You giving up at least 10 points against quality centers. At normal pace and not NBA all star game pace, Bill will give you 10 fucking points if you're lucky. :smh: Any of the quality guys hanging 20 minimum on Bill.

What top 5 all-time greats have such shitty offensive production? I can't think of one. Serious question.

No top 5 lol

No top 5 lol
I'll make it easier. Name a top 10 player with such shitty offense.

The most overrated cat in the NBA is Bill Russell. Bill barely in top 50.

Definitely the most overrated and it ain't even close. As we get further removed from that time, people aren't falling for the BS. Look at the reactions in this thread to watching the gameplay. Imagine how younger player in their teens would react. They'd be clowning hard.

Slippery slope though. Within 5 years the 2000 era players like Dirk, Paul Pierce, Kidd, Nash, Kobe, etc will be deemed OVERRATED, so its all relative. We're already seeing people admit the 90's was weak and cats gotta go more over the top to keep that era propped up, but it wont last. Bill Russell's legacy is set, he's still the game's biggest ambassador and his impact on the game and clutch play puts him top 5. Re-adjusting his #'s cant erase 11 rings. He made Boston the winningest franchise and 40 years later, they still are. :smh:

The big difference is people aren't going to watch film of the 90s and go  ... :hmm:... :roflmao: It's not fucking happening. Show that film of your boy Bill to any high school basketball team and they'd be like WTF? Why cats only dribble with one hand? Why they looking down at the ball? Why can't they shoot?

No one is going to say that about the 90s or players from the 2000.

It's like we can show film of the LJ UNLV team or Fab Five from damn near 30 years ago and cats would be like.. :eek2: "Damn. They were beasts!" Now show the footage from Bill's college team and folks would think they could get a pickup team and run them off the court. :smh:

People already laugh at the 90s. A white boy won the slam dunk contest, BJ Armstrong was voted an all star starter that era, and its known as the "expansion era". And you had to move the 3 point line to 20 feet to make cats look like competent scorers. Bruh nobody from the 90s is getting any awards named after them or handing out trophies at seasons end. Barkley and Malone aint held in the same esteem as Wilt and Bill. Except on BGOL of course.

Old timers lead the charge with that 'watered' down bullshit. The game is global. The 90s and the Dream Team helped that.

In the 60s, they had a white quota. They kept black players out of college, and that's why it took until the mid-60s to have an all-black starting 5. :smh: But most of all. Most of fucking all. The video evidence of the terrible play is there.

1. They couldn't dribble: They dribble to the left with their right hands. It looks like girls basketball did in the 80s.
2. They couldn't shoot: Just watch the tapes. It's brick fucking city. Awkward shots. Slow releases.
3. The game was slow yet fast: Meaning, they moved like their feet were in mud, but they kept jacking up shots and going up and down.
4. Few players were competent with both hands: Players have been using both hands inside for decades now.
5. Limited post moves.: Could you imagine Kevin Mchale or Hakeem back then? Those white boys would just throw the ball in the post and start running back down to play defense.

If the 90s are being clowned, the 50s and 60s should be clowned into fucking oblivion.

Please don't put people like Nash next to names like Kobe and dirk.. He will also fall in the overrated department in due time.. Never had a double digit assist yr b4 joining the suns..winning the MVP and scoring less than 20 points a game.. Being surrounded by 20 point scorers b4 he got their and benefitted by playing with them.. Guy literally is the most overrated MVP of all time

The 90s just wasnt good basketball and you have few HOFers in the perimeter. MJ, Drexler, and Miller are the only HOF 2 guards from the 90s. :smh:

And most dont even feel like Reggie should be there. Stockton and Payton the only 2 HOF PGs. Thats why people always bring up the big men to brag about comp cuz the wings and guards sucked. Dame Lillard is a fringe all star this era but would've been a top PG in the 90s easy. Terrell Brandon, Travis Best, Damon Stoudamire ass niggas. :smh:

The NBA created DPOY and the all defensive team specifically for Russell in 1969 (he was the first winner of both) because he dominated the league so strong defensively. And these are accolades cats use to prop up other players as GOAT.

Nobody from the 90s is getting awards or accolades named in their honor.

Nobody laughs at the 90s some of the best centers, pf , guard played at that time.. They had real teams.. The modern era doesn't even have a center selection for all stars anymore cause the center position is so garbage

Hakeem, admiral, Ewing, so, shaq would be living legends in this modern era

The guardplay was ass in the 90s. You have more HOF big men in the 60s and 70s. The era is overrated because of 3 factors. You niggas was little kids watching the shit, so its nostalgic, Jordan finally won, and yall think David Stern created the NBA. The Finals aside from the Bulls (Rockets, Spurs) had some of the lowest ratings for a reason. Expansion killed the 90s.

Drazen was in the 90s, but got killed. What about Mullin and Dumars. Kidd came out in 93. Penny and hill were solid and got hurt. The bottom line is the baseline of talent was much, much higher.

A cat like Jimmer would have been an all-star in the 1960s. Can't even make the league today because he is too slow. :smh:

Bill was a pioneer. That doesn't mean he can compete outside his era.

I never seen someone laugh at the 90s. Only eras people clown are prior to the 70s. The shit from before that barely resembles modern sports. You watch modern women's college basketball and they have better fundamentals than 60s pro ball. Seriously. You don't find yourself like  "Use your fucking left hand! "

How did it kill the 90s when the magic an expansion team was in the finals??? Hornets stayed in the playoffs as well as Miami... That expansion convo is the dumbest new modern day talk ever

Expansion broke up dynasties. Teams like the Pistons, Lakers, Celtics, Blazers, etc lost rotational players and championship pieces to the expansion draft. The Bulls and the Jazz were the only 2 teams from the 80s that didnt have their cores decimated and thats why they were the 2 strongest teams of the decade. No one considers 90s basketball even superior to the 80s, except dudes in they late 30s on BGOL.

What does the 80 and 90 have to do with bill Russell being overrated?! Once again you trying to deflect from the topic and narrative.. At the end of the day both 80 and 90 had better players than the 50

Just showing that anybody can come in after the fact 30-40 years later and disrespect and say an era dont count or is overrated. All I know is at the end of the season Bill is gonna hand somebody his trophy and Boston is still the winningest franchise in the NBA.

Thanx to bird and kg adding those 4 extra chips

It's easy to see why Wilt scored a hundred a night these niggas sucked

I don't know why this comment is so funny to me :roflmao::roflmao2:

They had the Logo, Jerry West. A total of 8 Hall of Famers, some of the greatest players ever. Players that are on The Mount Rushmore of basketball and mentioned throughout the history of basketball. Pictures and highlights that will last forever.

Footage of a historic game is captured and restored for all to see. Once you're finally able to view the video that took time and dedication to put together, that contained all time greats. The first thought is, "Damn, these niggas suck":roflmao2::roflmao3:

I always thought Bill russ was not worth the acclaim, but cats scared to call the obvious out because they want to build his myth and the celtics lore:

Bill is an overrated legend. He is a winner, but his game was truly a fucking travesty.
First off it was like 9/10 teams at the time.
Shirt NBA seasons/playoffs.
He played with a shitload of hall of famers.
He played vs a bunch of short slow cats, and he couldn't score.
The film don't lie.
And no one is laughing at the 90's play, because again film don't lie.
