Have you noticed that most of coach Bill Belichick's former assistants have failed badly in their head coaching roles with othet teams.

The jury is still out on the Denver Broncos coach, while decisions will be made on Notre Dames' Charley Weis and the Cleveland Browns, Eric Mangini. Romeo was an early casualty.

Maybe its the New England weather that allowed these guys to experience success in Boston, and flop once they went elsewhere.

Don't think it's really fair to judge them that quickly. Most of those names were on their first or second jobs. You'd be hard pressed to find any coach that was successful that quickly UNLESS of course he took over a team that was already a contender (Barry Switzer, the guy in Pittsburgh). Why Belchick himself was not that successful as coach of the Browns. In fact Belchick's predecessor, Bill Parcells, was not that successful his first few season either. As much as I hate Mangini, he deserves a little time to develop as do the rest of them

Good points. I also think that the corresponding 'hype' attached to these guys lends itself to 'unreasonable' expectations ('unintendated consequences', perhaps). Although Charley Weis came onto the college scene flashing his Super Bowl ring, which may have intimidated some NCAA coaches.
