I live in a relatively conservative part of central Virginia that went for Trump in 2016. My neighbor is conservative, a very knowledgeable and smart fellow. He voted in the Democratic Party (I presume for Biden). He told me that he is appalled by Donald Trump.
I think it was put well by a grizzled old fellow in my precinct who bitterly remarked as he left the Democratic primary last week, “I used to be a Republican.”
Donald Trump has turned America into a bad reality TV show. I think there is a longing to return to something normal, and whatever you might have thought about the Obama/Biden administration, it was normal. It was prosperous. It was respectful. It was circumspect, and it was very low on corruption and scandal.

Looks like the Trump admin is going full nazbol and running to the left of Dems economically. Supposedly on the verge of passing the biggest main street stimulus package in our history while continuing their fascist reactionary approach to social and geopolitical issues.
Approval ratings up. Trump is basically doing a subdued version of his rallies daily in front of the entire nation, this after nearly 2 years with no press briefings smh. Has the effect of seeming above the political fray even though it's entirely political, lots of dumb Independents will lap this stuff up. Dems are in serious serious trouble.

Biden's biggest problem is he's under attack by 2 of the dumbest and loudest constituencies, MAGA and the Bernie Bros. It's the far right and left attacking the middle. I think Joe Rogan is a smart person but he surrounds himself with people from the edges who believe stupid shit and ignore critical thinking skills because of their biases. Socialization and peer pressure are much stronger than people think. You hear people repeating falsehoods and start to believe it.
