Totally agree with Cenk here... I think it would be a disaster to push Joe

Biden is the least electable candidate — here's why

For months now, it seems that every pundit has been telling you Joe Biden is the most electable candidate on the Democratic side. We are told he is likable and the country is comfortable with him because he’s already been vice president.

Walter Mondale was also vice president. Did that make the country more comfortable with him? Did that make him more electable? In case you don’t remember, he lost 49 out of 50 states.
If Biden is not Mondale 2.0, he most certainly is Hillary Clinton 2.0. He just told a room full of wealthy donors, “No one’s standard of living will change. Nothing would fundamentally change.” This is the exact same problem the Clinton campaign had. It also promised to preserve the status quo and provide no change. You could not find a more unpopular message in America.

I don’t know if Biden remembers the placards Barack Obama had in 2008. They read “CHANGE.” The country just voted for a reality show clown because it was so desperate for change. Isn’t it amazing that this message still has not resonated with the establishment?

Most of the pundits on television like to focus on superficial reasons Clinton lost. She ran a bad campaign, she should have held rallies in different states, the Russians, James Comey, etc. While all of those contributed around the edges, they are ignoring the No. 1 problem she had — people didn’t like her message.

On The Young Turks, we would often send our reporters to different places in the country and interview average American citizens and get their thoughts on the race. One particular guy stands out. His name was Nic Smith. He was leading a strike for higher wages at a Waffle House in western Virginia, and he told us that at least Donald Trump had the decency to lie to them and give them hope about how things were going to get better for them.

Both Clinton and Biden don’t understand this problem because they spend all of their time with the donor class. Wages have barely increased in the past 40 years. And here is Biden promising the richest people in the country that nothing will change. In other words, your wealth will continue to go up, and wages for everyone else will stagnate indefinitely. This is what happens when you’re hooked on donor money. In fact, Biden went on to tell the well-to-do donors, “I need you very badly. I hope if I win this nomination, I won’t let you down. I promise you.”

That doesn’t sound like the most electable person in the race. It sounds like the least electable. Why on God’s green earth would we make the same mistake we made last time? Just about the only way you can lose to Trump is if you run a campaign geared toward the rich and the establishment — just like last time!

Finally, is Biden likable? If you like bear hugs and whispered stories, then he has the trappings of likability, but if you look at his substance, then you have a different story altogether.

I didn’t find the Iraq War likable. I wasn’t happy that we lost thousands of our service members and trillions of dollars — and killed nearly a million innocent Iraqis. I found that deeply unlikable. In fact, voters found it so unlikable they picked Obama over Biden and Clinton in 2008.

Cenk is absolutely wrong on all fronts.1st the Presidential election in 2016 was lost for 2 reasons 1. USA was not and is not ready to elect a woman President no matter how qualified she maybe. 2. Hillary lost 3 states she would not have lost if she was a man(Penn,Wis,Mich). Biden is THE most electable because in electorial Presidential elections he checks off major marks. 1. He is a white older male who stands toe to toe nose to nose with Trump. 2. He brings stability to a very unstable country. 3. He is not proposing stuff that sounds good in theory(reparations, college debt paid for all, medicare for all)that have no chance in hell of being instituted unless Dems win back Senate with 70-30 split to overcome Reps and the fillibuster that would surly come to block these programs. 4. He has relationship with some GOP members which means he could get some things done along the lines of LBJ in the 60s and last but most obvious he wins back Penn,Wis,and Mich easily. He would be better than 50% chance to win Fla,Ohio and NC. The other candidates would have no chance against Trump cause the top other than Biden are 2 women and a fag and Bernie Sanders. Biden is the only real choice.

nah.. Biden hands down is most electable candidate. You see any other Democrat going toe to toe with Trump? I don’t. Biden isn’t Hillary, her campaign was doomed before it started because the DNC decided to hand the nomination to someone who was the most second most unpopular in candidate in history, only to Trump himself.

Who else is gonna beat Trump? Booker? Harris? Warren? Beto? Man please.. the only person who could give Trump a problem other than Biden is Bernie Sanders. I believe the Democratic establishment would go scorched earth if Sanders got the nomination.

Biden represents the worst of "enlightened centrism". A milktoast establishment candidate eager to ensure no real change to the status quo. Just mealy-mouthed appeals to bipartisanship with a party that has gone off-the-rails-fascist and obstructionist. Dems need a real firebrand lefty just to keep the Overton Window from sliding further right and dooming America to become some retarded nazi hellscape. It's amazing more Dems aren't sick of these Republican Lite fucks... dude just shouted out James Eastland the other day in a totally unforced error ffs. He's traaaassshhhhh.

I'm voting for whoever emerges from the Dem primaries... every single one of them is preferable to Trump. I live here on Earth where there are clear differences between these parties that have a material impact on my life.

Having said that... Biden is pure garbage juice and I hope Dems come to their senses and choose a better candidate to run against Cheeto. He will def dampen enthusiasm among voters as well... only boomers are excited about this dude.

Problem with Biden is that I don’t think he will rally up the young voters and the Bernie Sanders (White Liberals). Which is what gave Obama the edge to win in both 2008 and 2012. Plus I think the democrats are underestimating black vote. I think 2020 will be lowest turnout for the black vote in democratic history.

Problem with the dems is that Biden is too much of a moderate. They don’t have any rising stars or any charismatic candidates. They need somebody that is going to rally the base.

What gave trump over the edge was that he rally the GOP base. He got them excited to vote which is what also put trump over the edge. He the GOP had put a moderate like Ted Cruz or Bush Brother. The GOP would have lost.

Bernie and Warren are the best bets by far my guy

Least electable yet Trump is running. Shut the fuck up!!!

I think some of y'all are forgetting this is primary season. You know, that time where we sort through Dem candidates and make the case for and against them?

Ol "Biden must be protected at all costs" ass niggas lmao

2016 - poor candidate (nothing to do with being female), voter suppression, Democratic party corporate allegiance and lip service to progressive change

Not just that but more and more so called black people have lost faith in the system after seeing no progress for black people economically, politically, or socially after a black President.

If people are going to be marginalized and flat out disrespected by the people they vote for, why continue?

95% of the black community that is using scare tactics and fear mongering are the pro-white blacks, the LGBT blacks and immigrant blacks. That’s it.

No reparations no vote. Your in for a surprise when a lot of black people don’t show up.

Cornel West: 'I’m not sure Biden can beat Trump'

Joe Biden lacks the energy and vision needed to beat President Trump in the 2020 election, according to Harvard University philosopher Cornel West.

West, who supports Sen. Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign, told the Washington Examiner that Biden is taking the black vote for granted and using his association with former President Barack Obama to avoid speaking “honestly and candidly to the needs of black people.”

At the South Carolina Democratic Convention, West said he does not believe Biden, who is selling himself as being the only candidate who can defeat Trump, can actually get the job done because he's "backward looking." West would not commit to voting for Biden if he wins the nomination.

“I think the important thing right now, we’ve got to make sure we’ve got a candidate who can beat Trump. I think Sanders can definitely beat Trump. I’m not sure Biden can beat Trump. But I do want to beat Trump,” West said.

“Bernie Sanders is the candidate who can beat Trump because you’ve got to beat Trump with energy, enthusiasm, fire your people up. Biden doesn’t have that. It would be a rerun of what we have in 2016 with sister Hillary,” he added.

West also called on the 2020 front-runner to apologize for expressing nostalgia about working with segregationist senators in the 1970s. Biden has said he has nothing to apologize for amid criticism, and several prominent African American Democrats have come to his defense.

“That doesn’t mean he’s immoral. He’s a decent brother. But he’s got to learn to be Socratic, which is to question himself and acknowledge he can be wrong. That’s not a good sign if he’s unwilling to question himself,” West said.

Fuck this coon and his opinion

It's kinda entertaining watching these

cats try to insult our intelligence and

common sense with all this bullshit.

Every 4 years its the same thing.

I can't believe he came into this thread

quoting Coonell West like his words

has weight and validity behind them.

By what definition is America's top black academic a coon?
