BGOL - What made your girlfriend/wife a keeper?

Me and my lady started out as friends. One day we were watching "The Long Kiss Goodnight" and when they did the part where Samuel Jackson fucked up the words to the song, it was the same as both of us and we fell off the bed laughing. There were a few more moments when she cemented herself as the one, but that was the first.

24 years and I really would do all this shit over again.

Coming out of a bad marriage, my wife was everything that my ex was not.......and I loved that shit about her.
On top of all the other attributes. Many mentioned here. Natural beauty, works hard, great job, nurturer, great cook, caters to me, a great mother, speaks fluent spanish.....

*edit - met in January and married in December. That was 18 years ago.

So, we were basically friends with benefits. I knocked her up and, before she told me, her mother had called my father and said "what you gone do?" My father got in my face and said "you better marry that girl". Before I knew it, a wedding had been planned and I was watching her walking down the aisle.

The son from that time kept me out of the draft and probably the Nam (it was 1964). 60 years later, it was the best thing that could've happened to me. We're still best friends and she always has my back, except when it comes to her kids.

Some good dudes in here. Proud to be amongst you good brothers who are in for the long run. Not knocking anyone who’s not a part of this group. There has been many times I considered opting out, but stayed and it paid off.

I forgot to mention that. I was coming off a bad marriage too. And she was also everything my ex was not. Funny how that shit works out!

1) It just worked, I was honest with her from the jump about who I was
2) I enjoy her company no matter what we doing
3) Our fights don't get super disrespectful and we're never mad at each other long
4) She's nurturing, the way she takes care of her people is admirable
5) She knows how to make a home feel like home. She don't stress me out, wish I could give her the world.
6) She is diligent not a lazy broad looking for a nigga to pay her way through everything. Plus she held me down when I was out of work for almost a year after a accident even tho it got mad tight and was stressing her out.
7) She comes from a stable home and has great parents. I love that woman.

 bravo!

She is what I need her to be. I am fire and she is water, she puts out ANY attempt I make to burn out of control even if I am justified. SHE charms the savage beast. I HATED my job and she stood by me helping work through a hellish job. I LOST my job and she is holding the family down.

she is holding the family down.
My wife was pissed when we got offered our first national tour, but she held it down. She also held us down while I was touring Europe playing rock star. My wife also has my same foresight. She was selling her items and an open market, and people were paying her with Square. She researched the company and asked me if she can put some money in the stock, and was like, "Knock yourself out.". We bought Square @ about $9 or $12 dollars a share back in 2015. I can't remember which one. When the pandemic hit, and I told her that we should buy a lot of Royal Carribean stock because this pandemic ain't gonna last forever. and she saw my vision. We bought at $26 a share. We are worth over 7 figures now. We both sacrificed for each other. I worked 3 jobs while she went back to college to get her Masters. Without her, I wouldn't be worth half that. She makes over 140k a year, and I make 89k. This dude asked me if that bothered me.

Me: :hmm:
