*** BGOL Runners: Motivational Thread for Long Distance Running ***

Finally got around to trying these, i was scared they weren't going to be very responsive, because the foam would be too soft,im glad i was WRONG, these things were cushioned comfortable and responsive! I was very pleased. Im going to have to try some of the more speed based shoes in the NB line up.

Nice. I’ve been on a two (almost three) weeks hiatus from running because of business, but thanks for the review. It’s time I get some new shoes, so I’m going to give a try.

My goal for this year is speed. Trying to get my 5k under 24 minutes.

I got the wide, i prob shoulda got the x wide which was my initial though. Take that into consideration

I have long feet. About a size 11.5.

The shoe feel tight on your foot?

I do have wide feet. I might have had them tied too tight, once i loosened the laces a little, i was ok,but i would get the xwide next time, i have a shoe widener so I'm not that concerned. I do noticed the xwide sells out first though, that was a sign i ignored

Did you decide to get them?
The cushion is top tier. I was having hip pain for some time, these have seemed to combat the issue

I didn’t run as much in January due to the cold temperatures. Luckily, I didn’t lose much during that break. I picked back up in February and my goal for 2025 was speed with a minimum of 5k. So far, I am exceeding what I did in February 2024. My weight is up slightly from around 192 to about 197. Once it starts getting warmer, I’ll be outside more and not sitting on my tail. My weight should go back down to 190 on average. I’m considering aiming for 185.

I ran 10k yesterday. It was great weather. I listened to some old school funk and soul and enjoyed the challenge. I’m preparing for a 7.5 mile trail run from my town to another town’s public library. It’s a very scenic trail and I’m looking forward to getting it in.

Good stuff fellas. Haven’t ran consistently in about a month (only like 2 miles twice a week), but about to ramp it up.

Trying to find a 5K to run this summer

Knocked out a tri-city 8 miler today. It was a challenge. This was my first time on this trail (Bicentennial Greenway) , so I didn’t know what to expect. There were numerous steep hills that almost had me quit. My 6th mile had 111 foot revelation gain with some stairs for a good “fuck you” to add. Lol

It was a very scenic run, though. I’ll do it again, so no time soon.

Congrats man, good work.
Just came back from a routine 5 miler

Good stuff, man. Keep it going.

This is my optimal time of year to run. Usually, in early Spring and Fall, I do my best running. I’m not during these type of miles during the summer. Lol.

continue to move well through the first quarter of the year. I ran 39 miles total March, increasing my distance with a few 10ks and one 8 miler.

I’ve had some lower back issues this past week, but I completed my 6 mile per week goal last Thursday, so I took a week off to tend to the back pain, and got back to running today. No decline in time. The back pain is faint, and isn’t affecting my mobility.

My overall fitness levels are up, and my weight is down to 190. I’m still determining if I want to go lower. That will require a full day of fasting, and low calorie intake afterward. That messes with the carbs I need for running.

Happy memorial day

Amazing. Sorry for the lack of updates, but I have a lot to report.

I have broke personal records for the 5k and 10 in May. I got my 3 miles down to 23:15 and my 5k down to 24:07. I currently working on getting the 5k down to sub 24 minutes and 10k to sub 50 minutes.

My weight is down to 185 pounds. I’m running faster than ever and I just turned 41 yesterday.

I did a 10k on Saturday.

Nice, weight def makes a difference

Props OP

I tore my ACL a few years back and picked up some weight. Once I got healthy enough to run I got up to 3 miles and then had two kids B2B

Been back running for about a month and I'm up to 2 miles in about 30 mins. Goal wise I would like to get a 10k in by the end of the year

I just use a Fitbit to track right now. Glad to see some other runners on the board.

Glad to hear you back in it. As long as you’re moving, that’s all that matters.

I set myself a weekly reason goal (4 to 6 miles a week). It really helps with motivation. Apps that tracks your stats also help with you see progression.

Keep up the good work, fam.

Still getting it in.

During these NC summer months, it’s become more challenging to run because of the heat and humidity. I stick with my weekly goal of 6 miles (two runs per week).

I’m in maintenance mode until the seasons start to change and I can run in cooler weather. That’s usually when I try to run longer or start trying to break records.

Im still at it, starting at 5 am now to beat the sun. Doing about 30 miles a week right now.
Local group propositioned me to start running with them, went out this morning @4:45 in the rain. 7 miles 2 mile warm up then 16 200m speed intervals

Yeah, that summer heat is brutal. I’m likely going to have to start doing the same. Lucky you got to run in the rain. I haven’t been so lucky because our rain doesn’t come until the afternoon in the form of powerful thunderstorms (very heavy rain and cloud to ground lightning). lol. Too risky.

I can’t do 30 miles a week. The most I have ever been about to do in a week was like 17 miles, and that’s when I was training for a half marathon.
