BGOL review .. BATMAN V SUPERMAN... (thoughts, summary, spoilers)

So he could track down this person who said later on that she abandoned humanity 100 years ago, but he didn't know who was Superman? Superman.... The main person that he was trying to get information on and he couldn't tell that Lex was the one sending out Checks with shit written on them?

That is just too inconsistent. It really makes Bruce look like an idiot here.

"Abandoned humanity" may mean decided to stop fighting for humanity, which makes her return to the fight that much more significant.

WB/DC Comics OFFICIAL RESPONSE to the Critical beatdown and enormous financial success...

“There is no question this is an extraordinary achievement,” WB’s domestic distribution chief Jeff Goldstein said. “Clearly, audiences have embraced it and we are already seeing repeat business. It’s just fun. Often, there’s a disconnect between critics and audiences. It doesn’t take itself seriously. It’s just an enjoyable afternoon at the movies.”
I am 100% sure if the movie received good reviews they would not have said this. They spent 250 mill on a movie that doesn't take itself seriously? Obviously Jeff Goldstein hasnt seen the movie.

I thought that Bruce didn't get the checks because one of his employees never gave him the checks until the last minute

You get it. I was asking Jay-Vil why he thought this was the case. But this also brings me to another point, all these ninjas talking about "They gon make money regardless", check this out. A big business must protect it's bottom line. A business could look at say "we expected to make 3.2 billion this year but we won't quite make it, we will be at about 2.5 billion" to the average sucker they would be saying "but yall still make almost 3 billion". The company would do everything in their power to get back to their original projection and see anything else as FAILURE. The fact that they released that bullshit ass deleted scene is a result at the executives looking at that massive dropoff. They trying to push sales of that blu ray after the first weekend. That is a red flag.

Exactly... The Day after you see that the movie suffered a huge drop off on Sunday worldwide, you release this deleted scene and ANNOUNCE the Blue-ray release Date for the 3 hour version is only 4 "fucking" months away. They know what's about to happen. Why else would you do this? To try to get the casual fan to want to see this trainwreck so they can later compare it to the 3 hour version. This isn't unprecedented. Wasn't there another movie awhile back that came out with a PG version and then announced the R-Rated DVD/Blue ray version was to be released not that long after.

I was telling my coworkers to lower their expectations. If you're not really a fan the plot holes and the issues we've been addressing are as big of a deal. It's a fun movie regardless and worth seeing just off the gp of Batman and Superman are on the big screen together.

Why decide to fight now... and not When the World was clearly about to be destroyed in Man of Steel???

I repeat.... Zod and his Army were a much bigger threat then Doomsday. The entire world was getting fucked. The same for Bruce..... Bruce is running around trying to reach Wayne tower... While Superman is fighting a Alien Army by himself. I mean Zod freaking made an announcement to the world with his intentions, before shit went down. So it wasn't like..... this just came out of nowhere. You un-retire when the world is at stake.

You have a problem when your Director and cast have to do interviews to address the horrible reviews and negative press the same weekend that the movie drops. I mean it is a given that this movie was going to make money the first weekend. There was no way that this was going to flop week 1, because it had Batman and Superman fighting. There was no way that people were not going to see this, but this week and next week will be telling. How much will it make during the week? Will fans be hyped to see it on a Wednesday? I just don't think they will.

Yea but general audiences don't know that.hell I know the comic lore and I don't think what you said makes any sense. Wonder Woman is probably the best part of this movie but still alot of people don't know how powerful she is exactly. How do you think people would have took it if she took the spear and SHE was the one to kill Doomsday?

The scene is definitely a setup for the Justice League movie.

Lex is 'getting arrested'.... while learning about Darkseid from the AI computer aboard Zod’s ship.

This is Steppenwolf... Darkseid’s Uncle... and the General of his Army.

In the video clip, the ‘spheres’ seen floating above his head are the planets in their solar system (i.e. New Genesis & Apokalips) which is located somewhere near Orion’s Belt in the comics.

These planets exist in a parallel dimension, but travel between New Genesis and other worlds is only possible via technology known as ‘boom tubes’ (dimensional gateways that cause a ‘sonic boom’ when created).

On their planets, the gods of New Genesis & Apokalips are giant-sized beings… but travelling through the boom tubes requires them to be ‘scaled down’ to mortal (human-size) proportions.

So in the upcoming Justice League Movie, (if they come to Earth) Steppenwolf will look like a regular human:

steppenwolf.jpg

Which means the cubes in the clip, are the ‘Mother Boxes’ that create the Boom Tubes.

Zod’s ship would have the similar technology as Kal-El’s ship (since they are both from Krypton)

As seen in MoS, when Jor-El tells Clark about the ‘History of Krypton'.... the Kryptonian shipboard computer creates a ‘collage’ of silvery-looking images:

So Zod's ship does the same thing...

And in the ‘Communion’ clip, we see these same images of Steppenwolf ‘disperse’ the same way it worked on Kal-El’s ship, in MoS, when Lex gets arrested.

Just my guess...

- Steppenwolf is the 'main villain' of the first Justice League 1 movie.
- Darkseid is the 'main villain' of the Justice League 2 movie sequel.

Making Steppenwolf the 'main villain' FIRST makes sense... because then they could include that chic Fury (who is a half-Amazon)... and give Wonder Woman a kick-ass opponent (like how Zod had that chic Faora at his side, in Man of Steel).

I agree with our theory but WB/DC will rush the storyline

It's only hard for you to understand. It's pretty evident that she hasn't been seen when Bruce asks her "where have you been?" Her leaving the flight was her making the decision to fight to join the fight. It's all explained in the film.

"Rush the storyline"

You cats want a story arc to stretch 6 movies over 20 years and shit. Just enjoy that we're getting this.

This comic book shit ain't my life. I'm not complaining. I'm ready for the next film already (well, the 3 hour cut). I won't be upset if they manage to fit multiple themes in one film in the future.

Steppenwolf Cameo in 'Batman V Superman' Fixes Major Lex Luthor Plothole

Now even non-DC fans know what Lex Luthor goes on about in his jail cell.

Though its theatrical cut is a very lengthy two-and-a-half hours, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Zack Snyder’s super-long sequel/prequel to other DC superhero movies has a whole thirty or so minutes of deleted scenes that will be included in an extended R-rated cut on Blu-ray and DVD. Among the deleted scenes is one titled “Communion,” which features none other than Steppenwolf, one of Darkseid’s generals who leads an invasion against Earth. Had his presence been in the final film, it actually would have solved one of the film’s most glaring plot holes.

“Communion” presumably follows the climax of Superman (Henry Cavill), Batman (Ben Affleck), and Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) defeating Doomsday. After that battle, the military enters the Kryptonian ship crash site in Metropolis, where Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) turned Zod into Doomsday. That’s when Steppenwolf, who looks like his most recent comic book iteration, makes his cameo… which consists of him just standing around before soon disappearing.

Had the scene been in the film, it would have fixed one of the movie’s biggest plot holes: How does Lex Luthor learn about Darkseid, whom he mutters about in the final prison scene?

Darkseid is the cosmic warlord of the DCU, who will be the villain in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Justice League — Part 1 and most likely Part 2.

At the end of Dawn of Justice, immediately after the Doomsday fight, Lex Luthor is confronted by Batman and goes on and on about humanity ringing the bell “for him” and that he has awakened? It made no sense because there was no context or setup. Well, “Communion” is that set-up, which not only explains how Luthor gets arrested but also how Luthor learns about Darkseid and his apocalypse. Which Bruce also knows is, to his dismay, absolutely true, and that’s why he and Wonder Woman are assembling the Justice League.

That shit was not explained... and I've watched the film twice. Once on Imax and then home on Kodi to give it another shot and NOPE... not explained.

You had to have previous knowledge of the character to understand what was happening.

Bruh you gotta chalk some stuff up it being a movie. Same way the Avengers aren't always available to help goes the same for JL.

What is this specific knowledge that had to be known beforehand in order to understand?

Your just a sheep that will follow wherever the Shepard leads you questioning nothing. It's not hard to understand it's just lazy writing. Maybe if the Wonder Woman movie came out first THEN he could say that. My job isn't to convice the sheep I just voice my opinion because I can. The movie's writing is bad and the movie overall isn't very good, which is a shame because there is so much material to pull from making these movies isn't THAT hard.

Yeah I get that part... I know that it's part of the movie. I just think it would have flowed better if they didn't show Bruce in Metropolis watching everything happen... because the audience already knows that he is Batman.
You can't have dude brooding around... Talking to Alfred about if there is a 1 percent chance of him being Evil and bitching at Superman for all the damage and death that he caused later on in the movie... when the Movie specifically shows Bruce/Batman in Metropolis during the fight. Why didn't he Batman up and try to stop any of it. If they showed him as Batman in the beginning... Trying to save people while also admitting to himself quietly that he is no match for this fight... then his later need to develop a suit designed to fight superman and his quest for a way to even the playing field would have made perfect sense.

Bruce Wayne has always been shown to be the Billionaire playboy/asshole. Why would he be running back to save people? Batman... could have easily been in that scene saving the girl. I get what they were doing. I can even understand Wonder Woman randomly showing up and then deciding to fight later on. But damn.. would it have killed them to include 1 flashback for Wonder Woman.. that could explain the picture and why she abandoned humanity before she joined the fight. They could have switched that flashback in right after she saw the picture that she was looking for and skipped that forced introduction of the remaining future justice league members.

People are not gonna come back again for an enjoyable afternoon at the movies... if the movie is 3 hours long.

And improving 'repeat ticket sales' directly affects MY OWN salary & bonuses.

Don't take it so seriously comic nerds. It's still a fun movie...

Regardless, I will NEVER publicly admit that it was my fault... because there's way too many people I can easily 'throw under the bus' before I fall on my own sword. Sheeeeiiiiiit."'

I thought that first.. until I rewatched it and in the end when Lex was talking to Superman. He specifically mentions the details of his plan on how to get these two gladiators to fight and one of the things he says after referencing the photos he sent Clark Kent was Checks from a disgruntled employee. It was an extremely quick line... but he definitely mentioned Checks. So that means he knew Bruce Wayne was Batman and that Clark Kent was Superman. He would have likely known this prior to the party.. since he invited all three of them there.

I've heard females and non comic fans say "I wanna go see deadpool", "I don't like comic movies but the avengers was good!" This is the first time I've EVER heard of a movie of this magnitude dropping a deleted since the first weekend of its theatrical release.

I was talking to an old co worker yesterday - she is one of the people you described, she isn't a fan but she went on a double date to see it - they hated the movie, she said some of the guys in the theatre liked it but most of the people there were not happy... countless others like her are spreading the word to skip this movie

This is ridiculous. All the hands this movie passed thru and no one said "hey, we need to explain this in the movie"?. Now they got all these damn articles explaining all of the plotholes

Exactly... Movie comes out Friday. Deleted scene dropped on Monday... Blue-ray release date dropped Monday. This shit is unprecedented.

Lex security sucks.

I guess that he wanted them all to be there, so he could somehow have them meet and discuss their philosophical differences. I mean lets be real... Clark had only been working at the daily planet for 18 months and Billionaire tech genius is going to make a beeline toward him and Bruce to mention how cool it is to see these these two people come together. What the fuck had Clark "the reporter" done at that time?
It sounded like Perry White had Clark as a beat reporter and covering sports stories and not a well respected journalist like Lois lane. Why would Lex care about him, unless he already knew he was Superman and Bruce was Batman... which he enjoyed that "You do not want to pick a fight with this guy comment?"..

All they needed was one Scene... With Steppenwolf either before or after... Just have him in the background with Lex in his House or have Lex talking to a Shadow in the Bathroom at the party and Mercy knocking on the door to see if he was ok. You wouldn't have even needed to show him.. But that one scene... plus the scene at the end.. with the reveal of Steppenwolf would have gone toward changing my opinion on this movie. The seeds of a great movie are here... They just needed to plant them and walk away.

Oh Mercy did question Bruce... but he somehow said that he was lost looking for the bathroom and Mercy believed him. But all that would make sense if Lex.. knew that Bruce was Batman and he figured that he would do something like that.

yep this is just them trying to stick their finger in that gaping hole in the damn.

a band-aid for a gunshot wound

Finally saw it this morning. Theater had about 20 people in it.

Zack Synder needs to be banned from writing any films. The holes in this story were absolutely ridiculous. Clearly this movie deserved to be panned as it's been. Warner Bros definitely needs to be rethinking things.
