I could never understand why RACING cars would need to have energy efficiency. They're RACE CARS for christ's sake.

Bring back the V8s or even those honking big V10s. The noise, the smells. Bring back in-race refueling. Reducing the size of the cars is a good step. If you go to a race weekend they usually have a historic "race." You see how fucking small the historic cars are and you can understand all the passing back then.
