Well, well, well… seems ol’ Georgie might’ve forgotten to do some lifting and coasting to preserve that fuel. There was no safety car so they raced from start to finish with no slow down. Merc probably fueled the car anticipating a safety car which is more the norm than not at Spa.
Lol, he’s done. Now that Ive given it some thought if you saw Toto’s face after George won the race, he didn’t look excited at all. Shit seemed weird to me. I think they knew. Also George is so stubborn when he wants to win or under pressure I can see him ignoring lifting and coasting to get the win.

1.5KG of fuel is a whole LOT to be down in fuel. Keep in mind they say 1KG of weight off a car is worth about 3 tenths per lap in pace. It seems like George got the win on merit, but he was working with a definite edge.
Hamilton also confirmed he wanted a one-stop in the prerace meeting and they told him to go two-stop. Not that much of a big deal because the team has long run data, but they didn’t tell him they were switching George to a one-stop because the tires were in good shape.
