BGOL, Name a single movie where the sequel or the remake was better than the original?

Well f*ck it Rocky then...

Just pick one.

So is this just name your favorite movie then?
ehhh
none of the Rocky sequels are better than 1 and 2
and imo 1 and 2 are the same movie - Creed and Rock are just mirrored reflections of each other from first movie to 2nd

You can't do that based on your own definition

Rocky 2 is a sequel by every metric

And was comparable if not better than the original.

But to me it's difficult to do that. Its like Rocky and now Creed is its OWN thing comparable only within its own universe

they're all sequels- Creed too

imo none of them are better films than 1 and 2 - and I think 1 and 2 are even
because both films are telling the same story with slightly adjusted challenges for Rock and Creed

Silence of the lambs technically wasn't a sequel...it was new different story with one hold over character in Lecter.. The protaganist and antagonist are different.

kinda like the way Halloween III season of the witch isn't really a sequal of the Halloween movies..

oh BTW...HALLOWEEN 2!

That's the thing

It's technically.

Many do consider it a "sequel"

In modern literature there are so many variations possible

Remake re boot sequel prequel

I mean look at rosencrantz and guildenstern

That's like a side - quel? Absurdist variation?

It's difficult to define especially in film with Easter eggs, cameos, retro fitting characters and scenarios

Let's Do It Again

again NOT a sequel.... cosby and poitier play two different characters from Uptown Saturday Night to Lets Do It Again to Piece Of The Action

none of those stories are connected as stories....

if thats the case then Stir Crazy is the sequel to Silver Streak

anyone agree with that??

Remake: Infernal Affairs 1 and 2 over The Departed

My bad: Read it wrong, IA was the original and it was way better than The Departed.

Better than the classic with Arnold?

Classic???

An Austrian white man, with a heavy Austrian accent, who can't act was comparable to the remake where a dude who looks as Sammarian as you can without being authentic, and is a very reputable actor?

People cannot divide nostalgia from their opinions and it's rough.

The OG Conans were so bad they were good.
The 2011 remake is the best Conan film we'll ever get.

Also Dredd 3D was fire. I suggest you watch it in 3d first. The experience was insane.

Whattttttt… Rocky 4 and there’s no comparison..I’ve been saying this for decades..so much they made the sequel decades later.. creed 2.. if he dies he dies is 1 of the most legendary lines everrrrrr… best training segment ever.. 1 of the best music sequences in a Rocky ever.. he wasn’t fighting for a belt he was fighting to survive..must I pull some of those great Rocky 4 segments out? That nig was training like he was going to war… you didn’t even know if that nig was gonna survive in the end.. movie so good in the beginning of Rocky 5 that nig was in the shower like call my wife I can’t stop my hands from shaking Lmaoooo.. drago won the war.. drago 1 of the best movie villains of all time.. man I love that movie

If we pushing sequels that are not part 2.. than Friday the 13th part 6 and nightmare on elm street pt 4 for the win… best Jason and Freddy ever

Normally, I would agree with you, but Bill Cosby, Sidney Poitier, and Calvin Lockhart were different characters in "Uptown Saturday Night."
Ex. Calvin Lockhart was "Silky Slim," in "Uptown Saturday Night," but was Hiawatha "Biggie Smalls" Smalls in "Let's Do It Again."

The devil's rejects.

Dawn of the Dead (only as a sequel to night of the living dead. The remake sucked).

Black Panther (incredible live-action remake of The Lion King)

Black Jesus (incredible remake of the trailer Park Boys TV series)
