I had a meeting this in DC this morning and Im staying the night. My hotel is downtown and even though school is out for the summmer, traffic still sucks and 5 miles is 30 mins. I need a good spot to go for dinner and drinks with a former jumpoff, some casual shit, we aint fuckin so no steakhouse for her.
Seafood is always an option, want to go somewhere chill, live jazz is huge plus.

Reccomendations ?

Where are you downtown? if you are in the Metro Center or Gallery Place (Metro stops) there are plenty of staples
Ike the Hamilton, Old Ebbitt Grille, Oceanaire Seafood. Those are along F street near the White House.

If you want to take a couple of subway hops, you can slide over to U Street.
You got Busboys and Poets which is chill for the bite to eat. Sometimes they have spoken word or live music. You'll find a few rooftop lounges along that corridor too.

Aight you know it’s DC so it’s million of good food spots. If I can think of some more I’ll circle back
My favorites:

1. Georgia Brown

2. Founding Farmers - personal favorite (have to make reservations for the Penn Ave location)

3. Founding Farmers Distillery - located on Mass by the convention center. Sister restaurant

4. Salt line - it’s in the navy yard and has decent seafood

100% agree with the Hamilton, old Ebbitt and Oceanaire esp. if you are downtown.
You can walk to those spots

Busboys and Poets is a solid spot too

Bruh, I love Georgia Brown !!!!

Good thing is if your hotel is near the Metro you can get to the hot spots pretty easy without breaking the bank. Depending on where you are you can walk to multiple spots, so if one place isn't your thing, a few doors down there is something else.

Closest subway stop to you is Mt. Vernon Square on the Green Line. From there it's easy hops to Gallery Place where the Wizards play or transfer trains to Metro Center and the restaurants I mentioned are along that street. You can take the Green Line uptown also to U Street. You're in a good location to a lot of different options. Also, since you're close to the Convention Center, there will be a few cool spots along 9th street.

Are any of these recommended spots Black owned? I too will be there in a week or so.

Most of the spots we named were downtown. If you want black owned you'll have to go Uptown or somewhere like H Street NE.

I personally like Spicy Water African Grill off U Street (#18 on the list). Brotha from Ivory Coast owns that place. African food but he has simple stuff like Kabobs, salads. If you like Fish the snapper is the rave there. The half chicken and fries is banging too.

Not on that list but Roaming Rooster has a good chicken sandwich!

I ended up at Clyde's in Rockvillle, was her choice. @CPT Callamity @DC_Dude I got yall spots on thd list, I gotta go back down in a couple weeks, Fl on monday, CA right after, TX for a few days, home and back to DC.

I liked Clydes, good atmosphere, food is excellent. Had the Octopus appatizer, parmesan trout, raw oyster platter. Its hard to find properly cooked octopus, they git that shit on lock tho ! Had 4 different types of oysters, all of them were deliscious !! 300 with drinks and tip, so they dont knock your pockets. I highly reccomend taking a stop in.

@doe moe i was driving home this morn tried to stop at Negril, was like 10 am, they dont open till 11, you know i was mad as fuck, i wasnt waiting another whole hour.
