^On another note, the whole neo-soul scene fucked it up for themselves low key. The fought so hard against the term "neo-soul" and it always baffled me. They even shot at documentary "There's No Such Thing As Neosoul" back in the early 2000s. The whole idea was there's nothing NEW about soul. Yeah, I get it. But it was a way for the industry to market yall during a time that Ashanti, Usher and Alicia Keys were considered R&B. Badu put the album out with "Neosoul is Dead" on the cover. Jag did the "Divorcing Neo to Marry Soul" shit and none of it worked. They essentially killed the way the industry marketed them they suffered as a result. Shit, we all suffered as a result since we lost that great sound.
