Beyoncé’s “Love Drought” Video highlights the Story of Igbo Landing

Peace,

Very good drop, actually. More people need to know about Igbo Landing. Also, props to Beyonce. I was never a fan before, but she's really been representing lately.

I understand death vs slavery, but I sure wish folks would have fought to the death (I know MANY did and their stories are also told), versus willingly killing themselves.

I say this from behind a computer screen of course, owing my entire existing on all my ancestors. Not taking shots

How come I never knew about this before?

 I go digging for African folklore and can never find stories and history like this.

Thanks for the drop OP. This type of stuff is enriching to me.

Seems like theirs is so much reigional history about slaves that never gets told. WTF?!

I will tell my old lady about this she's igbo and I know she doesn't know about this history.

Formation had/have many of us southerns feeling good(not that we don't normally)...

Little kids love it because it a nice some

Teenagers love it because many of them have those features that she's speaking on,

Young adults like it because they have something to be proud of....

She's on that encouraging tip

As soon as I saw that portion of the imagery in that video, It reminded me of "Daughters of the Dust" as well.
