Tribe CAME from De La why compare? :smh::smh::dunno:

De La i will admit was kinda boring compared to Tribe but we should never compare those 2 legendary groups man, never.

Co Sign!!! You cant compare the offspring to the origin. Plus those are my two most Favorite groups. But if I had to I would go with Tribe.

Its a sin to pit anyone from Native Tongues against each other...

De La Soul ARE THE FOREFATHERS THOUGH...and to me overall better spitters....

wtf? i just noticed the poll results. you niggas are WILDING.

de la's creativity is unparalleled.

pos's flow alone shits all over tip and phife.

stakes is high is one of the 10 best hiphop albums ever made.

these niggas STILL put out quality (grind date, nike album).

dont get me wrong, tribe is ill...but they're no where near de la.

thats like picking a favorite child. I'll say this when it comes to production its gotta go to Tribe but lyrically De La was superior.

Low End Theory is in my top 10 Hip Hop albums of all time, but I might have to go with De La Soul on the strength that they keep reinventing themselves.

To Go From

This:

To This:

Then This:

shows the constant morphing

p.s. i didnt fuck with common til the bizness. i didnt fuck with mos def til big brother beat. i didnt know who jay dee (dilla) was until i heard the track, "stakes is high".

DON'T MAKE ME DO IT!!!!!:smh::smh: ERGHRR AHHHH EMMMMMMMMM SHEEESSHHSHSSHHH
I, I, CAN'T CHOOOSE!!!!:smh::smh: FOR THE LOVE OF HIP HOP PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME PICK OF THE 2
.:smh::smh::lol::lol::lol:
On the real though...that's like sayin a 9 yr old kid being asked by the judge....son, which one do you want to live with? Your mother ..or your father? ....... see what i mean? I picked Tribe by a small margin...but truth be told De La's - trying people is the mutha fuckin truth This song just talks about life in general man.[ if your 18-24 eh' maybe your not ready yet. 25 n up...it'll get you to think about your travel's in life, past n present]

as usual i knew the stupid dick riding losers on bgol would pick the tribe becuz they are MORE popular. dats da trendy groupie pick.. see a real nigga like me knows that.... but bottom line DE LA SOUL has more longevity and more consistent material !!! i like the tribe but fuck what u hear:yes:d they aint fucking with DE LA Soul......... there would be no tribe if there was no DE LA... ya dig? Church:yes:

Tribe.

...but dela never gets the respect they deserve for having what may be the longest lasting career in hiphop. they didnt break up or deal w/ internal beef in public. class act in my book and 1 of my favorite groups.

1987 - present

Simple. I like Tribe better.

I have more memories tied to their albums cuz thats what I used to listen to.

tribe

de la went out of their way to be fukking weirdoes. their music catalog was impressive but de la was on some "if y'all aint smart enough to catch what we're saying, fukk y'all. we aint dumbing down shyt" then later on in their career, they started making their shyt more accessable (baby phat, shopping bags). tribe always been about sparking that head nod from day one

I'm a huge fan of both and since it was mentioned before its hard to compare the two since they are from the same family. The Stakes is High is a classic but head to head with Midnight or Low End will be edged out ever so slightly. We've had this debate here for years and midnight and low end will beat almost ANY group album head to head.

 Yezzir

I LOVE TCQ, but De La Soul started it, and is still together making music as we type.

The even wrote the BGOL anthem:

DE LA SOUL!!

DeLa by a mile...and I LOVE ATCQ.

"3 Feet High and Rising" went over everyone's head. I bet most people still don't get the meaning of the title.

I was blessed to see ATCQ open for DeLa in a gymnasium at my college alma mater BEFORE "I Left My Wallet" came out. Who knew I was witnessing future greatness?!?:dance:

both are pioneers, but…

De La ushered in a new era in hip hop that allowed Tribe to come in.
De La pioneered skits on albums and changed the way artists sample music.
De La has had more classic albums than Tribe.
De La's albums always had at least 2-3 classic joints.
De La has more hits.
De La has influenced more music and more artists.
De La still makes music today.
Every member of De La contributed unlike the whole Jarobi era…:hmm:

if you go album for album, De La clearly wins. Overall, De La wins as well.
still love Tribe though.
shout out to Jarobi wherever you are…
