Lavar Burton played in a TV movie called “Dummy,” where he was a deaf and mute guy that got raped in jail. That scene was real fucked up.

I thought I would just put that out there.

OK first off DAMN I have not thought about that movie in DECADES (it was a TV Movie if I'm not mistaken?)

second..that movie was shall we say..problematic with some wonderful performances sprinkled in

third...If we discuss this on the podcast someone gonna have to hang up on someone at some point.

I like Brotha "Ving". I thought his best work and acting-range came through clearly when he portrayed "Don King" in HBO Movie's, "Only in America"!!! Yes, Larry has had a few more opportunities, but they never let Black Men get too far from stereotypical negative acting roles!!!

Fishburne has so many iconic roles. Like unforgettable in Black cinema. He might be my favorite Black father character of all time with Furious Styles in BOYZ N THE HOOD. Professor Phipps was dope af in HIGHER LEARNING. He was great as Bumpy Johnson in HOODLUM. There can be no other Morpheus.

Some of his lesser roles were dope af too!

APOCALYPSE NOW, Swain in THE COLOR PURPLE, KING OF NEW YORK, CADENCE, Smoke in BIKER BOYZ, But perhaps my favorite is his portrayal of Vinny in SEARCHING FOR BOBBY FISCHER. All-Star cast, lesser-known movie, but he stole every scene he was in.

Cowboy Curtis was that dude too if you watched Pee Wee lol
