Damn great joint. Great song. But that I miss you was futuristic for 1972. The production of i miss you is crazy. It's a masterpiece. The way them katts were still singing their asses off in the background while folk was on the phone call and the piano player playing his play, man! Man Lenny is killing it as I type this. But that i miss you was just the perfect storm. It was a team effort. I say if you remove any one element of I miss you then it wouldn't be as great. But they nailed it.

Major Harris recorded Love Won't Let Me Wait in the studio with the full complement of MFSB including the Sweeties. (Barbara overdubbed the moans later) with only a small light over his lyric stand. Many say this is the reason it has such a sensual feel to it.
Rudy Lewis was one of the premier leads for The Drifters after Clyde McPhatter and Ben E King left. The group had a studio session sceduled but Rudy was late. He was discovered dead in his hotel room, probably from an OD.
The group went into the studio and Johnny Moore was called on to take lead. (He had done lead before) By all accounts the group was in tears during the session.
This is the record that came from that session. You can hear the pain.
