soul:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1d2P9L8dHxU

The Roots
KRS One
Ice Cube/Westside Connection
Up In Smoke Tour
Snoop/The Game
Musiq Soulchild
Raphael Saadiq
LL Cool J/Run DMC/Beastie Boys/Dougie Fresh
Busta Ryhmes
Method Man
Jay Z
Boyz II Men
The Jackson 5 (Victory Tour)
R. Kelly
D'Angelo

Of course the Summer Jams and Powerhouses are the shit!

Ive been to so many that were the shit!

1985... Prince's "Purple Rain" Tour at Syracuse University featuring Sheila E, The Time, and Appolonia 6. He was on the top of his game. I've been to other concerts, but none tops that one. Peace.

I've been to concerts of several genre's and I'll say concerts with mostly black people are the most fun to go to. Black people go to concerts to party, and from my experience, others go to concerts just to watch.

#1) Kanye West.. (Kanye gave a great performance, The entire crowd was into it, and he was on stage for about 2 hours.)

#2) Frankie Beverly and Maze. (Good old school music and they are good performers, everyone was dancing and had a great time.
)
#3) The Up in Smoke Tour (Snoop, Dre & Eminem were the best)

#4) Shakira
She can shake her little ass like no other. I was one of the only blacks there cause i was dating a hispanic chick at the time and noticed that they all just watched the concert. Not many people were dancing, when she had some stuff you could dance too.

#5) Mariah Carey
She gave a mediocre performance. The crow was evenly mixed and I'd say us black people had the most fun there. Again it seemed like the other races were there to watch and not participate.

U2 - Elevation & Pop Mart. These guys kept the crowd moving for 2 1/2 hrs straight and had one helluva an amazing stage show.

Prince - Every tour but Purple Rain (was too young). Amazing

Janet Jackson - All For You. It's a Janet Jackson stage performance; need I say more?

Sade - Love Deluxe. Ok, this is by far the most I've ever played for a ticket: $350 but it was worth every penny seeing her sexy non-dancing ass.

Hard Knock Life (The Roc Family, Redman, DMX) - I had an all-access pass, and I swear, the antics during and after the show were almost as entertaining as the show itself. Redman set off a stink bomb in DMX's dressing room because that negro didn't show up for sound check, D came running out that bitch ready to take someone's head off.

The best two I've been to is Prince during the Musicology tour and the other one was John Mayer (very talented) a few months ago.

Show/Performance: Prince (Purple Rain) & Janet (Velvet Rope Tour)
Music: Earth, Wind & Fire, Alicia Keys, Sade & Erykah Badu (Badu is a BAD m.f. live fam!!!)

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)

The Best?
1) Prince about two years ago
2) George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars
3) Earth, Wind, & Fire at the Chicago Stadium YEARS ago (Maurice was still performing)
4) Bob James, Harvey Mason, Dr. Gibbs, & Earl Klugh - 'nuff said
5) George Duke & Stanley Clarke - From Jazz to funk and back again!
6) WAAAY back in the day: The FunkFest in Chicago at Soldier's Field: P-Funk, Bootsy's Rubber Band, Bros. Johnson, Taste of Honey, and more weed per square inch than a Jamaican night club

3 Make My List:

1) Prince Lovesexy '88 Tour-He had the little '55 Thunderbird that he drove around the stage...and also had the bed that came up in the middle of the stage. (Damn...Kat & Shelia E. were fine as hell!) He performed 'Anna Stesia' on a white piano, solo I might add and it was raised up off the stage and rotated 360 degrees. Coolest thing Ive ever seen.

2) Black Expo Charlotte NC 1994-Mint Condition, Cee Cee Peniston with the Isley Brothers as the headliners ($10 ticket)

3) George Duke, Rashann Patterson and Rachelle Ferrelle. Rachelle Ferrelle is probably the best singer I have ever seen live. Church included!

Honorable Mention: Prince again on the Musicology tour. He performed 'Cream' by himself on an acoustic guitar. Me and 19,999 other folks were simply amazed.

R&B:

1) Kem seen him at Chene Park and if any1 gets a chance to go to one fo his concerts go.. and take a bytch cause you will sure get sum azz after it

2) Stevie Wonder about 6 years ago he did a free concert in Downtown Detroit and that playa was on stage for about 2 hours

3) Gap Band seen them in Japan while i was stationed over there and they killed it

4) Roger and Zapp nothing needs to be said about that one...

The best live performances I've ever seen have always been Prince. I'm showing my age here but I went to the Dirty Mind tour. I think I've seen Prince in concert at least 8 times, including Europe.

Rick James
Earth Wind and Fire
Parliament and Funkadelic
Brothers Johnson

Terence Trent D'Arby gave a great performance, didn't have the big show like the others. I knew that cat when I was in the Army in Germany.

All my favorite rappers died or stop doing shows....before I was old enough to go see them.

The only show I would pay to see these days, is a Wu-tang Reunion, but that aint much without ODB.

Gap was the TRUTH at the height of their career. And I couldn't bring myself to inclue Parliment. That went without saying....

I'm ashamed I left Zapp off my list. I had never or have never since left a concert so exhausted as when I left a Zapp set. I have YET to see 7000-8000 people dancing (and I'm talking 'bout FUNKIN') at the same time for an hour and 45 minutes to two+ hours.

Gotsta bump some Roger and Zapp now....*sniff*...:( .....

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)

2. Sade
3. Maxwell
4. Luther
5. Frankie Beverly and Maze

fellas, if u wanna get some serious rhythm from some very fine, single, successful and connected women of all races, attend these singers concerts.....

-boz skaggs
-dave koz
-kenny g
-wayman tisdale
-cassandra wilson
-Kem (a BIG must)
-nora jones
-michael franks
the Playboy Jazz Festival (if ure in LA in the summer)

im a big fan of these artists, but these were the shows where i met/dated women that were sitting on a some high six (some 7) figured mature women that love to spoil a young kat such as myself.

Al B. Sure, Bobby Brown & New Edition,,, back in like '88 or '89,,, i was real young and there were soooo many fine women at that concert

That was a nice triple bill (when Bobby's dumbass would actually perform). It was smooth how New Edition had their Fedoras lowered down from above when they did "Can You Stand The Rain".

Memories...

D-Nice 1 (The Nice One)

1.Michael Jackson Bad Tour

2.Prince Musicology Tour

3.J*Davey Joes Pub NYC

4.Bilal Fort Greene Park NYC

Ive been to more amazing shows but those are the few that stand out....

Actually I got a DVD of Maze live in L.A. and I've had my moments that i felt i was there....and from what i hear those cats still go hard like its 1972.

I love listening to live music. Does anyone else hate going to concerts and finding out there's no live band and they just sing off of a track. I like live shit like this. Check this solo out. He was going the fuck off.......

Kool G Rap, Original Flavor, LUKE & Ice Cube fresh from his leave from N.W.A. @The Apollo in the late 80's
That shit was classic hip hop even Alpo got on stage during Kool G Rap's performance not to rap or nothing but to kick some ass. That was one crazy night Harlem was deeper then Brooklyn up in that mofo that night. New York heads know that whatever is hot anywhere in the world if you yell is Brooklyn in the house you will get a good response. Not that night not one peep of a Brooklyn representer. The show was a good look

Summer of 1990. It was the Fear of a Black Planet Tour featuring Public Enemy, Heavy D & The Boyz, Kid-N-Play, Queen Latifah, Chill Rob G. This was a few nights before Trouble T-Roy of Heavy D’s crew died after falling from the stage. I got seats on the floor for my whole crew and we rode to Capital Centre packed in my 1984 burgundy Cadillac Brougham with white wall tires. The show was hot... Flava Flav and PE tore it up!!!!! We then went to the hotel for the afterparty, but couldn’t get in the room so we just chilled outside and I pumped the bass from my ride and flirted with the honeys.
