<font size="3">
Is it a region: North, South, East Coast, West Coast, Northeast, Midwest ???
Is there a particular city, example: NYC, ATL, CHI, or something smaller ???

What influences your decision???:

- Quality of Life issues

- Job opportunities

- Quality of their public schools, the availability of daycare facilities, and the relationship between the police and African Americans.

- Earnings potential and the overall cost of living in their locations

- Cost of living,

- Proximity to employer

- Cost of housing

Whats your choice ?

Right now I love the city that I grew up in, Tulsa Oklahoma, for one primary reason; Untapped.

A lot of my friends are moving away to ATL/Houston/Dal/D.C./ etc... because they are already established and there is a lot of "stuff" to do. What they failed to realize is that one day the same city that they grew up in will eventually offer the same things, granted not as soon as they like but eventually.

And guess who will make money, the people that were able to see it before it happend and had the capital to invest.

If I had to pick anywhere else to live it would be Houston. Reminds me of home but has 1 million black folks.

I'm staying right in Raleigh NC

I'll let all my idiotic friends move to these "Black Meccas" and be broke..... I'll network in the city I grew up in, make money, have kids and make more money.

I'm staying put and just travel to all the "Major Cities" when I'm bored

My chick moved to L.A. without a plan, and is now on the brink of being homeless, a crappy apartment out there costs $1100, something she didnt wanna listen to when I told her to stay here and work.

Unless you already live in a large city or get a great job offer you'll be an idiot for moving to largely populated city (any city with over 800,000 people in the city limits)

I'm hoping that the A-B sell doesn't make St. Louis worse than it already is, but I really would like to stay and invest in preparation for that "boom"...

However, I like the south, between Houston or Dallas, because of the price of living, population exposure, and business opportunities, and Memphis, because of the culture, proximity to St. Louis...IF I was to move from here permanently...

I'm thinking Houston would be a good spot but I can tell you this, don't come to Las Vegas and expect to do well. I found out while trying to change gigs, this is NOT the place for brothers. Not career wise anyway.

The entire state of North Carolina has been gaining ground with Black professionals. I personally think Nashville is a good city. Three HBCUs so there's a good sized educated Black populous and it's a couple of hours from other cities like Indianapolis, ATL, and Memphis.

I'll tell you what cities are not good - Philly & Detroit! Stay the fuck outta those two.

High crime coupled with a shrinking industrial economy of those cities (especially Detroit) = higher crime.

What a difference three years can make.

Since I wrote that I've packed up and moved to Atlanta.

My thought process is a lot different now and I've also got more potential revenue streams since three years ago.

A revenue stream that needs to grow in a new market that has a gimme now consumer mind set.

I've chosen the South. The Carolinas. Cost of living is low. You can still earn the same wages as in NYC or ATL depending on your career path. Where I am the schools suck but I have no school age children here. I also dont plan on using public schools at all. Crime is low here. The only area in either state that shows up on the worst crime stats list top 10 is North Charleston. I'm nowhere near there.
There are more white supremacist groups in the state then I'd like but it was the same in New Jersey in the 90's.

For black people its weird. For the black locals it isn't the greatest environment and multigenerational poverty is in full effect. I'd have to say in general I have been put off by how unfriendly blacks are in general toward us. Its bugged. It didnt use to be like this here in the past. 2 out of 10 blacks might speak to you in passing. It used to be a lot more friendly. Whites are waaaaaaaaaaaaay more friendly. I get way more love in Brooklyn. Its weird. I can't put my finger on what it is. I know times are hard for some.

I've been debating what the best locale for us is and I can't really decide. New England is expensive and racist. The Midwest is cold, landlocked and racist. The West - considering Oregon. Texas isn't really my kind of place. Anything between there and Georgia aint happening. Florida - hurricanes. Georgia - Im tired of it.
I really like North Carolina. South Carolina I have mixed feelings for. Virginia is dead- lived there. Maryland -no way in hell. DC - no way in hell.

My next move would be Oregon, North Carolina, Minnesota or another country- most likely northern europe.

One bonus of where I live - there is no housing crash here. Prices never got inflated like in other markets and until recently there werent many layoffs.

That's how I felt in California and NYC. Definitely the most racist places I've lived. Vegas is a racist town. Look who started it and who runs it.

damn good thread. i'm considering moving to either NC or VA, still debating and researching. i'm currently in the midwest, kansas actually. good place to come retire.

I gotta disagree with you on Detroit, if you are business minded Detroit can be a great place to make money for black folks, its true the crime is bad, but what large city is crimeless?
