Be Safe New York

yoooo -Freeport is CRAZY! the whole of south Freeport looks like its underwater... 5 towns, parts of Rockaway, part of Rosedale, whats it going to look like tonight?

I had family stuff to take care of so I've been down south for a month and I came back for this, lol.

I lost power @ my house for 6 days during Irene, I've got an 8,000 watt generator @ the house but most likely will hang out with the parents in underground power supply cable having Queens, lol.

Yeah man, Freeport ALWAYS gets hit hard in these big storms, but to be so deep before the storm has even hit yet is truly scary!

So far I've been ok. However my brother had to evacuate cause he lives in the Merrick area which is near the water. He's at my mother's place now enjoying her FIOS.

@mikeseidel Atlantic City's public safety director says most of city under water... Damage looking worse than 1962

They say that because it's going to be a full moon tonight, the storm will be more intense.

 the real concern isnt the eye of the hurricane but the storm surge during high tide. theyre expecting the surge to be 15-20' above normal high tide along the coast.

Exactly.

When Hurricane Irene hit the eye went straight up the East River, this time around what makes it so much worse for NYC is that we are along the edge, essentially along the outer part of the storm that churns everything up, and then it's happening while we're @ the height of the full moon which adds almost another foot to the storm surge!

Stay safe NY
