Who is Lil Wayne? Some wack rapper from N.O. how do you guys co-sign this nonsensical rapper is beyond me. :smh:

I dont know who your directing that too but i'm not in any way a wayne fan....I'm pointing out the fact his fanbase has grown (unless you've been under a rock) to where people think he's hot on everything...So of course if you have two rappers coming from different angles, people are gonna debate who had a hotter verse...People love Kanye but other people are on wayne jock...I'm just point something out nothin more nothin less

Cool. On my end, I was actually pulling for kanye when he first entered but that College Dropout wasn't what I expected. Also, I think that in order for albums to be deemed a classic, it has to withstand the test of time. One thing that bothers me that I've noticed lately, artists hyping up albums before its actually released, claiming that it's a classic. Don't the people get a say in that matter. I've actually read/heard people claim that Lupe's Food and liqiuor is a classic. Alot of it's do to peoples dissatisfaction with what's being marketed to them. People need an alternative and kanye is the posterboy. However, there are MCs with more lyrical/flow skillsets that are being overlooked and it's discouraging.
This I agree with. I got Food and Liquor, although it may not be a classic by all time standards, but if The Carter is considered a classic by today's standards, then F&L is got to be one also.

Lupe is one of those artists that is getting overlooked for guys like Lil Wayne with no skills.

Kanye is up there as far as lyricists today go. He's not on Mos Def's or Common level but he is by far better than Lil Wayne.

I said also that to me The College Dropout is a classic and that's after going back and hearing after 3 years.

I got that and I wasn't directing it at anyone. I was saying expressing my exascerbation at this shit with him.

Highly unlikely. Makes sense that it seems that way though since they both idolize the same MC...

Good observation!!!

Damn it! Wish I would have thought of that one first.

Hey and somebody fill me in on this "Big Brother" shit about Kanye going at Jay over Coldplay?

I hate to say it but I missed some of that shit.

Help me out Freaky!

Missed that one too, man. I don't think it made the press like that. Was most likely internal shit.

I agree on the lil wayne statement. But shouldn't artist me held to the standards, alltime?Fuck it, I guess you have to take into account the day and the time. Plus, when you've been listening to hiphop since 81/82 your perceptive is different. Me, I'm an Organized konfusion, early Hiero, Common Sense, Bahamidia, Black thought- type. I want continuity when it comes to emceeing. I need a better, stronger fix. Elzhi is that dude that I think could do it but I haven't seen or hear anything from him in a minute. Pharoah's album was aight, but after a 7 yr wait, I was disappointed. (tangent) Ceelo is a much better mc the lil wayne. I remember on his first album he has this song were he's just 'going in'. The beat sound as if someone was blowing into a bottle.
Lupe doesn't had charisma or style to really attract alot of attention. He tends to go into long draw out metaphors that you have to decipher to figure out. But the metaphors aren't dope enough to draw me into wanting to figure it out half the time. Plus, when his said that he hadn't heard Midnight Mauraders and wasn't interested in checking it out I was through with playboy. Well, It's been cool chatting with you about this, I'm about to move on. One
