Im the same way. I spent a lot of time in the south and learned to "speak". It was nice always having someone say hi and asking how your day was or even just a smile if eye contact was made. My kids have picked it up to and now when we are walking to school or to the park they act as if they are in a parade waving at every damn body.

It has nothing or very very little to do with gassing anyone's head up. That's some shit you guys like to tell yourselves to protect your egos. But i see it like this, you guys for the most part, can go 6 days out of week without anyone bothering you. Interrupting your thoughts. You can go outside, go for a run, with no one trying to schmooze up to you. You can go to the gym(mostly) and be unbothered by leering eyes, by chatters. You can sit in a library bookstore and be at fucking PEACE. You don't have to worry about being bothered by anyone.
