Barber question....

As a Barber, my job is really no different than than any person working a "9 to 5". I still have the same responsibilities as the next Man, so why should I lower my prices and have to work even harder just to maintain.

Sure, I wouldn't have to pay booth rent if I moved from a shop to my home, but I still have to pay a higher than normal gas and light bill due to the increase in usage.

You can't be cheap towards your Barber

I always tip my barber 50%. I know I'm getting the best service anyway but it keeps him on his toes when he knows I'm coming.

You find a new barber. My barber retired. He use to hook me up for $6 on his off days from the military base barber shop. Its America he can charge whatever he wants. Its up to him if he wants to risk losing a few customers.

Why should a Barber have to risk losing customers because he wants to charge more than $6? Like do y'all realize that $6 isn't shit? Idk what he normally charges, but damn, do y'all expect a Barber to work for damn near nothing? I swear a lot of people really don't respect a Barber's craft as a profession.

In every industry folks are always expecting a raise due to cost of living or other factors, but they want their Barber to charge the same price for 20+ years. I'll rather lose a few customers versus let them disrespect my craft and expect me to work for what they feel my value is. I actually lost a client last week because he told me $20 was too much and he liked it better when I was charging $15 back in 2000.

Barber been cutting me since I was 3

He turns 50 this year

Cuts used to be 13 for The longest but they went up to $16 for cats 12 - up.

I always hit him with a dub.

Tip your barber fellas

Your reading comprehension is low. I said my barber retired and was answering an earlier post. I use to tip my 40% I never left a barber because rates increase. Usually it was customer service or quality of cut. In America you can charge whatever you like.

I've been cutting my own hair and beard for quite some time.

Whenever I cut it, I never do a half ass job. As a result, there are times I will go to the barber because I get tired of cutting it myself.

On my salary, $25 adds up, though. Can't get that service routinely.
