Stagnant Hawks want, expect roster changes

Tuesday, Feb 12, 2008 5:23 pm EST

The NBA trade deadline approaches and the Atlanta Hawks are wondering: Are changes coming? With mostly the same roster the past three years, providing the same inconsistent results, Hawks players are curious.

There is agreement in the locker room that these Hawks, as presently constituted, haven't given a true representation of who they are. Whether that's a product of their makeup or something else is the lingering question. It's enough to make some Hawks players agree that any change, might be a good thing.

"Obviously, I'm paid to play and not to make decisions from the management side," Josh Childress said. "But when you see stagnation in your style of play or the way things are going, you have to look to see if you can add something or subtract something, whatever that may be, to get things rolling in the right direction."

basically start from scratch outside of josh smith?

last time i saw the Hawks play was last year against the Grizzlies.

they looked like a high school team.

Translation: Play me or trade me

and he's right

Hawks are not that far from being a tough team. Their problem is not biology, it is chemistry. All they need is the coach to play the correct players together and stop worrying about egos. Johnson should stay. But take the ball out of his hands. He needs to be at his natural SF spot. He's a decent ball handler, but not as a guard. Put him in the backcourt, and he's only average. Also, Josh Smith is NOT a PF. he is also a SF. So there is your problem right there. They have 3 SFs playing in the lineup and no PF or SG.

If they really want to go in the right direction, they'd play this lineup:
C- Horford (rookie of the year)
PF - Sh. Williams
SF - M. Williams or Josh Smith (whoever doesn't play trade him for a PG)
SG - Johnson (just catch and shoot)
PG - ?? (Kidd??) or stop bullshitting and play Acie Law already. And stop farting around with Tyrone Lue already

then Josh Childress could be 6th man

If I would've approved of a Kidd trade to any team it would be this one. He would be perfect for them.

This is exactly what I see too! I went to see them Friday night against the Cavs. A point guard like Jason Kidd and this team will be tough. They are nice, but he coach is in over his head and they don't have a point guard that can correct his bone-headedness. It really pisses me off to be this close and still so far away.

I want new, new owners.

You don't blow up a young team becuase they aren't playing well.:smh: I agree with trading Sheldon big soft ass (the nigga went to Duke, what you expect:hmm:) and Lorenzen's pointless ass. If anything you also trade Tyron Lue 5'8" ball-hoggin ass. Trade them for quality veteran players or a player like Samuel Dalembert or Ben Wallace (they need a solid defensive center). Let Acie develop, Al Horford will be a beast at the 4 spot. Move Josh back to small forward, and leave Joe at the two. With a move like that your starting line up improves (defensively) and you gain bench depth and energy by not starting Marvin, Josh Childress, and Zaza.

I agree with the firing Billy Knight(he the reason the Grizzles play in Memphis now, plus he drafts the same damn player over and over.Never I have I seen soo many wasted lottery picks) as long as he takes Mike Woodson's non coaching-ass with him.:yes::yes:

..looks like he got his wish:

Kings Send Bibby To The Hawks
February 16, 2008 - 4:53 pm
ESPN -
The Sacramento Kings have agreed to send point guard Mike Bibby to the Atlanta Hawks in exchange for four players, according to ESPN.com.

The Kings will receive Anthony Johnson, Tyronn Lue, Lorenzen Wright, and Shelden Williams from the Hawks for Bibby.

When he heard the news of the deal, Bibby had this to say to the Sacramento Bee:

"I had some good times here in Sacramento. Sometimes you need a change, and you never know where that might take you. I just prayed and asked for what might be the best for my family, and this is what happened so you can't question it."

"I'll always have love for the people in Sacramento, the Maloofs, and [President] Geoff [Petrie]."

For lue, anthony, wright and williams?? damn. The hawks made out like bandits here!!

With bibby, atlanta finally gets a true starting pg and at the same time got of rid of players who may not even be in the NBA next season, wow.

good trade.

It's not really that a good fit though. Bibby is a shoot first type of PG. He's more effective when he's taking 15-20 shots per game. I've never seen him only take 8-10 shots and be effective since his Vancouver Grizzly days

I Agree The Hawks Was Not The Best Team For Him I Think The Hawks Are Gonna Still Be Sorry, They Need A Legitimate Proven Big Man Also To Go Along With Al Horford.
