Brooklyn Zoo

Basically, I was mad one day and I got fed up hearing bullshit on the radio and in the street. It came to a point where the underground motherfuckers were irritating m, so I had to come up with a song that’s gonna put everyone back on point. And to just let people know how it’s really supposed to be. This is how it was, this is how it started. It’s battling. Remember when we used to battle – when niggas used to get their asses ripped out? That’s what ‘Brooklyn Zoo’ is all about.

Give It To Ya Raw

That’s something that I made 12 years ago. That song is 12 years old. And you know I was just vibing. That was just my vibe; that was when the real hip-hop was there, so that’s what I was into then. We’ve got shit from 13 years ago. This is one of my oldest songs, produced by the Rza.

Shimmy Shimmy Ya

I don’t know where the fuck I got that from. I’m just dealing with shit and doing what the fuck I had to do. Just bugging out. It’s in my world. And when I say ‘Ooh baby I like it raw’, I’m just letting people know that my style is really real. There’s no hiding, there’s no holding back. It’s just being raw. If I tell somebody ‘fuck you!’ I mean that. I’m not playing. I’m not holding my feelings back. You can come at me with something and say something and don’t expect me to just sit there like a little bitch and not say anything.

Dirty Dancing

The name is something that Rza made up, ‘Dirty Dancing’, ‘coshe felt that fitted the song. But it’s me just buggin out; just getting into a comedy role, but serious. Serious is I’ll say things like ‘My name is Ol’ Dirty Bastard, and I’ll fuck you up if you fuck with me’. Or if you take me as a joke. We can joke, yeah, lets joke together, ‘cos you gotta have humour, in life. When you’re in jail, you can’t be on no shit. You gotta smile when you’re in jail. So you need something like that, someone smiling and joking. It’s a cheer you up song.

Dirty and Stinking

‘Dirty and Stinking’ is just dirty and stinking. This is another song that’s also 12 years old. The beat was produced by Dante Ross, A&R at Elektra, director, top mother fucker, you know who the fuck he is… That’s just my style, how basically I first got my name, the Ol’ Dirty Bastard, just showing my style how its dirty and how its stinking. Just getting into that shit.

Going Down

That’s another name that Rakeem made up. I don’t know why. It’s a whole different vibe of me. I just wanted to show how talented I could be. I could come on another form, and still give a fuck. I can’t really put no image on it. I want you to put the image on there, however you see it. I don’t want to give out no light. I want you to see the light that I’m giving. I ain’t gonna get into it right now.

Protect Ya Neck 2

That’s a different version of the Wu-Tang song. But this is my mind right now: how I’m seeing that you gotta protect ya neck. The song has eight emcees, featuring Buddha Monk, Prodigal Son, Killah Priest, 12 o’clock, Shorty Shitstain, Murdoch, 60 Second Assassinator. These are all my killer homicide niggas from Brooklyn, from the zoo. And you’ll hear them soon. But we ain’t gonna get into that. Fuck giving props man. All props and all respect due to Ol’ Dirty Bastard for making shit happen for everybody..

Hippa to da Hoppa

‘Hippa to da Hoppa’ is a west coast jam. I just show the west coast how I can vibe with them too. I’m coming down with that bass. I just wanted the west coast to appreciate my music. All my music has got that west coast shit in it too, but ‘Hippa to da Hoppa’ is more of that. I just want to let them know that I appreciate their music and I love their style. Their style is my style any-mothefucking-way.

Baby Baby C’Mon

That’s heavy metal. Strictly heavy metal. The beat is heavy metal-ish; the soul of heavy metal, that I’m into. It’s a performance. On stage when I’m doing ‘Baby Baby C’Mon’, it’s a rock star thing. Its rock ‘n’ roll, and I’m the rock star. Its just a combination of things thats raw, that people hide about themselves. Don’t hide, be real man. Fuck that shit. Be real, nigga.

Damager

‘Damager’ is just damaging emcees, straight up and down. Its back to battling emcees. Like on ‘Brooklyn Zoo’. There’s violence. Yes, there’s violence. I get violent too, whether you’re in bed or bustin’ your children’s ass for doing something wrong, you get violent too. Don’t sit here and try to put my form of music in a description where its bad. I’m just showing you how the fuck I get down. I’m just showing you what exists in my mind. What can exist and shit.

Drunk Game

The first title was ‘Sweet Sugar Pie’. Its really me just being drunk, singing to a bunch of bitches in a bar, fucked up, nice, trying to get some pussy – trying anything in my power just to get some pussy, ‘cos I’m desperate that night and I want some pussy bad. And I’m drunk and I see so many fine bitches in my way, and I ain’t got no way but to sing to the motherfuckers.

Don’t You Know

That’s some shit I did when I was young. It’s about women; how women hide their feelings and they really be wanting that shit. How women really are. Its about shit that exists in women that they don’t like to bring forth out. It takes that right motherfucker to bring all that shit out.

As Yet Untitled

And there’ll be a new song featuring the Rza, Masta Killa, Killah Priest, Buddha Monk, telling the story about things that transpired in their lives and shit. And things that they’ve seen happen before. And me, I’m just going up there, just clearing shit out, just finishing off shit. Its street experiences, drug life, you gotta really listen to it. Its really so deep. I can’t sit here and explain their styles. You listen to it then you really see , you catch a certain vibe.

Not too many cats who were or are still in the game that I can honestly say I love their material, but Ason was one of those people...I swear his first album was how I felt at that time personified...str8 wild and crazy, coming out like a Tiger with the shit...the 90's were so raw that everything now since those days is simply tame.

Was Dirty a super lyrical beast, nope but he was creative and got you to vibe and wild out. O'l Dirty was so raw, theres no way you can sing -a-long and not get hyped and into it, Shimmy Shimmy was my shit too, it used to have the spot on fire, and the club, ha ha  lol. Wow.

I miss dude, I wish he would of cleaned up his act a bit more, but he lives on and is immortal through music. Gone too soon, he embodied the Wu's energy, live and out of control, and fun, yet dangerous at the the same time.
