I pretty much share his sentiments although I probably won't see the movie just because it isn't my type of movie as far as I could tell from the previews.

If we accept Spike Lee and others criticism of the film Django Unchained as valid, then does it follow that Jaime Foxx, Kerry Washington and Sam Jackson are officially the biggest coons in Hollywood and Spike or any self respecting black director shouldn't work with them in the future? Cuz in all the threads thus far about this movie, I don't believe I've seen anyone make that assertion. So...What say you BGOL?

While I don't believe that's true, it isn't that big of a leap and seeing as Spike has and will work with Sam Jackson, I don't think he's thought it through like that.
But it could be a case of him having his opinion and not holding it against other people for having different ones. In fact, it seems other people are far more emotionally affected by his few comments than anyone of the people you've named.

1 star for your over exaggerated thread title

He earned that one.

Yea I share his sentiments too. "Its only a movie". These niggas complaining are making it something bigger than it should be. I'm watiing for that muthafuckin' SCREENER though. We got Skyfall but can't get this shit?

I feel you. I'm just trying to understand how we're ok taking QT to task over this film but won't hold our own accountable for their participation.

Yeah. I don't have a problem with it or it's subject matter (QT just sucks to me) but for those that do,they should have a beef with the Black actors too.

I'm so confused. I don't know of anyone who has seen the movie that has had anything negative to say about it. The people who are hating are the ones who have vehemently stated that they who NEVER see the movie (Spike Lee). And we already know he has a vendetta against Tarantino anyways. I really doubt if Sam, Jamie or Kerry care it they can't do a Spike Lee film, he don't pay his actor well anyways except for Denzel.

I've seen the film. I enjoyed the film. I'm trying to understand the discussions surrounding the film. With all the things being said about QT (granted - mostly by those who haven't or won't see the film), I'm trying to understand why those same critics/detractors won't hold our own to the same/higher standard.

And I also think that the handful of people who have negative feelings believe that EVERYONE else thinks they way they feel about the film. They're living in their own world.
