Arsenio was a real G for this!

Man you talking about staying up late every school night to watch the show. Must see TV. His final show with the Hip-Hop tribute is legendary.
Man, looking back at Arsenio, the Cosby Show, Jordan, Tyson, MJ, Whitney and Prince and compre it to the crap that's going on today, all I can do is shake my head on how far we'll fell off and sold our souls!

I find many parallels between BGOL and his show. If prominent black performers went on his show they were banned. The lucrative white market was untouchable.

He should have antitrust the other networks.

Arsenio doesn't get even props for having the 'soul train' of talk shows he came and conquered shit and brought on everyone they said shouldn't be on television.

What he did for black people and culture just pushed us right on into White Americans homes and they didn't have to like it but they damn sure respected it cause they had to.

I was young watching the show cause it was the last thing on before the American flag and the native American crying and the TV turned to static, but I enjoyed watching it.

Fuck Jay Leno, Johnny Carson... ECT we had Arsenio.

I agree with Dice Clay that this was staged. Arsenio was phoney, I remember when Dr Dre was on his show promoting The Chronic, Arsenio was going on about how much he loved the album. He was praising Dre and telling him how tight his work was, Dre said something about the comedy that was on the album and you could see Arsenio was confused and he then asked Dre what comedy, Dre said you know the skits, Arsenio then tried to play it off like he knew what he was talking about but he really didn't. A staffer briefed him about the album but didn't say anything about the skits, that's why he didn't know.

Man even if it was staged I still give him props for letting them know where he stood on the issue. But i seriously fail to see the connection between what happened in the video and your Dr. Dre example.

When did Dice say the show was staged..? I remember when the keyboardist in his house band said she would just be backstage for the whole show if he was on

Also remember that show he did during the Rodney King riots, there were like 10 or 20 people in the audience..

He's a phoney and everything he says or does should be suspect.

I'm still shocked Arsenio hasn't taken advantage of this podcast era and started his own which is sorely needed.

Anyone can start a podcast but very few would have the ability and experience he has to conduct an interview.
Bingoooo I been thought this when they were talking about an arsenio revival yrs ago

There was an episode of Hall's show when they were both calling each other phoney. Hall was saying Dice was faking when in the middle of one of his routines he just suddenly started crying, he then did some kind of Fonz move and got himself together. Dice said that as tight as television time was, that it was mighty convenient that Hall just happened to have the extra time to confront a heckler.
