That silence is maddening. Not just because it compounds our feeling of cosmic isolation, but because it makes no sense. As we inevitably find more and more exo-planets where intelligent life can exist, why have we found no evidence — no signals, no radio waves — that intelligent life does exist?

It’s called the Fermi Paradox, after the great physicist who once asked, “Where is everybody?” Or as was once elaborated: “All our logic, all our anti- isocentrism, assures us that we are not unique — that they must be there. And yet we do not see them.”

Think about this: If you were an alien traveler; so advanced with enough intelligence, technology and power to scale space and time... and you came to earth, and see how we get down... would you honestly even consider us worthy of making first contact with? Would we look like an intelligent race or just the dominant animal on the planet?

Just seriously put yourselves in that alien's shows for a quick second.Cos I'm telling you, if it was me... Fox News would be enough reason for me to turn the fuck back around.

There are as many planets as graines of sand on all the beaches on earth. Of course there is other life, problem is most planets and galaxies are thousands, millions and billions of light years away. Unless these aliens can warp or live to be millions of years old, how would they find us?

This. It's like the idea of gifting warp drives to a colony of ants. I'm assuming intelligent space travelers would be sparce in the universe at any rate to the point where encounters would be hard to come about.

there are aliens on this planet. Many of them can breathe under water,

until your arrogant ass can claim to have even seen a fraction of what's on THIS PLANET, why are we hung up on this bullshit?

I think its a little to early in the game to throw in the towel.

Maybe they have contacted us and we see the signals as noise or it's at a level we do not yet understand. And maybe they are similar and us and are staying away because they think we are dangerous. You can't assume everyone is friendly and want to meet.

Some time back, there was a post about avoiding aliens. Some scientists said we should try to avoid contact instead of looking. The bean pie eaters came out of the wordwork saying that was whites projecting how aliens would be hostile because whites were hostile.

All the noise we started making in recent years(since the space age) could be like bleeding and splashing around in shark infested waters. Mankind hasn't done anything until the 1900s that would attract attention to this area.

For every advanced civilizations, there might be some assholes or childlike members who might want to play "magnifying glass to ants" with us.

I din't get this line of thinking. What makes you think other planets, if they contain life anything resembling life like what we have here, would have some kind of judgement like that? Even on this planet, when we have run into beings considered more primitive, we've alwasy made contact with them at the very least.

One thing's for sure, if an alien was to visit earth... I'm personally stepping up and begging them to take me away with them.

if they're able to see us and see how fucked up our civilization is.....i wouldn't wanna try to contact or associate with our crazy ass either.

Silence is golden. Whatever intelligent life that exist out there needs to stay where it is. We don't need them here.

Man's paranoia level is without measure. Now ask yourself do you really want an alien visitor from another planet here, that's without question superior to the everyday man? The alien would be killed setting off an interplanetary war.

the universe is stupefyingly large, if they haven't overcome light travel i doubt you'll be seeing waves of them anytime soon.

If aliens did ever come here, it would probably play out like something similar to this.

The Dogon tribe in Central Africa have a story in their culture that a race of amphibious beings in a large space ship visited them several thousand years ago. They supposedly came from the Sirius star system in the Canis Major(?) constellation. Look it up.

:beammeup:Despite all the news of discovered planets, we have only looked at "a gain of sand of all the sand on Earth" worth of the star systems out there and I'm likely overstating this! As far as intelligent life goes, some planet will have none, some it might be like dolphins or elephants who have no interest in the stars OR technology as we know it. Of course life could be so different we would not recognize the signs at first, they could telepathic which may account for no radio type waves or even a search on their part.

Now if Space-faring Races have mastered faster than light (FTL) drives I'm sure communications have long since evolved into something we could never pick up or think of to look for. Many unknowns come with any of these races. Their size, lifespan, reason for developing FTL technology plus many other traits would figure into whether they would bother with us and what kinds size of ships they would travel in. We think mostly in terms of STAR TREK type ships, however for the power and room likely necessary for scouting the galaxy or even universe I think massive perhaps even small planet sized may be more likely. It would carry many smaller recce craft and could likely study a planet like ours for a long time or more likely keep an eye on us, especially if we happen to more blood thirsty :gun03: than the "Civilized" Galaxy.........Just a few thoughts!!!

Among other theories to explain it (why If there is other intelligent life, we have not found it yet).... consider this; early homosapiens were intelligent life, but they had nothing that we'd consider technology. They were tool makers, and had big brains, but they didn't understand the concepts of electricity, molecules, sound waves, etc... and they were (at the time) the most highly developed (in terms of intelligence) creatures on earth, and it took millions of years for that intelligence to get here.

So, is not one possibility that among the tens of thousands of galaxies out there, and the probably millions of planets (discovered and undiscovered) there may be intelligent life that is still at the caveman stage? If they're out there somewhere, our technology isn't advanced enough to spot them, and they would still be on a quest for fire or some shit, and thousands of years away from even considering that there are millions of planets, etc.

...and 180 degrees the other way... let's say that there is another civilization, so advanced that they have studied us for tens of thousands of years... maybe scoped out the planet for millions of years before even homo erectus existed, and now they're watching us fumble about doing stupid human shit. Why would they bother to let us know that they're there? What if their technology is so sophisticated that our "primitive" technology misses any sign of them?

Until we can think faster than the speed of light, we can't even conceive the distances involved. Think about it like this: try and imagine the vastness of the atlantic ocean. You can't do it. Try and imagine the size of the grand canyon. Can't do it. Our brains fire at the speed of light, so until we can turbo charge them we won't even know what is involved in interstellar travel. It's called the space/time continuum.

We . . . MIGHT just BE IGNORING them, while in plain sight.

UFO Video Baffles Chilean Government by Alejandro Rojas UFO and paranormal researcher and journalist

At the 2012 International UFO Congress in Phoenix, Arizona, retired Chilean General Ricardo Bermudez discussed the results of a remarkable multiple-witness UFO case. The UFO was spotted on the morning of November 4, 2010, during an air parade at the Air Force Academy in El Bosque, Santiago. Although no one noticed anything unusual during the parade, seven witnesses came forward afterward with different videos all showing a strange metallic object moving at extremely high speeds.

The parade was part of a ceremony that takes place every four years to celebrate the changing of the Commander-in-Chief of the Chilean Air Force. The president, the heads of the all of the Chilean armed forces, and many other officials were present. During the parade a group of Chilean Air Force aerobatic flyers, called the Halcones, a group of F5s, and a formation of F16s flew over the spectators. The videos show different stages of these various flybys.

2012-03-12-GeneralBermudezUFOCongress.jpgAt first glance the videos do not look unusual, but if you look closely on each, there is a slight flicker as if something small moved across the screen very quickly. Upon closer examination, Bermudez says each video shows what appears to be a round metallic object with a dome moving across the screen.

Bermudez is the director of the Committee of Studies of Anomalous Aerial Phenomena (CEFAA), which is an arm of Chile's version of the FAA . . .

I've often thought about this and been in debates regarding this on science forums. It seems to me one of four things is going on.

1. No one has found us yet.

Considering the sheer size of the galaxy much less the universe, it seems very logical to me that noone may have noticed us yet. Not to mention, we are on the outskirts of our galaxy. For all we know, the inner locations may be teeming with life and interaction. Also measure in the fact that everything is rapidly moving away from each other, maybe if their are aliens they don't have ships fast eough to get our galaxy.

2. We are under some sort of protection or quarantine.

Say we are an experiment or being observed. There might be a powerful alien race that is so advanced sanactioning anyone coming near our system and world. Maybe they want us to evolve normally or hell.. who knows.

3. We are one of the most advanced species.

Think about it. Who is to say that every alien speices has suprassed us? Perhaps we are the alpha race. Other species could still be multicellar forms for all we know.

4. We....are....it.

In relation to this threads topic, maybe there is something that occurs at a routine set period that wipes out life. Maybe our location protects us or we haven't become victim to it yet.

In the end, who knows. These are just ideas I have and my input.

We . . . MIGHT just BE IGNORING them, while in plain sight.

Why must you attempt to turn this into a UFO thread?
:smh:

You know how hard it is to find someone on this planet? Now extrapolate that to the solar system, galaxy, galactic clusters, then Universe. You could live in the same city as a friend of yours, take the same subway or bus and never run into them.
They're probably hiding from fools who ask such stupid questions.
If you do or don't want to believe there are extraterrestrial intelligence, no big deal as it won't change anything.

Why must you attempt to turn this into a UFO thread?
:smh:

Srsly? That's what you observed me do in a thread titled "Are we alone in the universe? If not, where is everyone?"

So in your mind a "thread jack" is underway, which has been strategically planned by yours truly? Coooool ouuuut.

I'll just suppose you have some secret answers to this extraterrestrial riddle that you'll spring on us at JUST the right moment. Until we have a smoking gun, it's all conjecture and speculation, right?
