Are Scallops Actually Vegan?

The thread title and the information in this thread states that they don’t know if scallops are vegan or not? So they don’t really know.
I’ve heard of scallops, but I have no idea of what they are, that’s not hard to understand.
I’m not sure how girls and scallops have anything to with each other but I’ll let you have that.
And I’ve heard of lots of “Girls”, in my case “Women”.

Owing to their widespread distribution, scallop shells are a common sight on beaches and are often brightly coloured, making them a popular object to collect among beachcombers and vacationers.[2]The shells also have a significant place in popular culture, including symbolism.
