Are men important in the black community?

However, today masculinity is disposable like wet wipes, it's needed to clean up the mess or fix things after that dispose of it. Being a man is a very thankless life full of expectation. You are not expected to complain or have grievances or show your individuality you are only expected to perform. Perform a job, a task, a duty, a responsibility.

well...that's life. just gotta suck it up and make the best of it.

apparently.

yes we are and we need to act like it defend it and take more responsibility.

Lead from the front and show the world how seriously we take that responsibility.

My dad always says, "A man is found when a man is needed".

They are but its no surprise many men feel they have to even ask this question. Society has become increasingly anti-male anti-masculinity unless kt serves a female purpose. Men these don't have the aid of patriarchy anymore to do their thinking for them. Today men don't even know how to "be", how to be men, how to act in particular situations. Any expressions of mascinity tend to be shamed as harmful or offensive. It's great that women can provide and earn for themselves now, it actually frees up men from the burden of having to care for women's every need.

Ehh

Maybe some aspects of masculinity were built on faulty ground and aren't as exclusively male as one would like to believe.

Also, historically guys set the tone of being a silent provider of services not women. You put yourself in that box and taught women how to keep you in there but now it's biting you in the butt.

And the thankless life can go both ways.

I believe men are valuable in the community, have a lot to offer and gain from involvement.

P.S. I feel like I should throw in an obligatory "some men / women" so ppl wont start whinning. Well...there it is. Put it whete you see fit.

WOW! I must state that this was very intriguing to read. I agree with some and disagree with some others. While at the same moment in time I cannot help to take into consideration of the programming we all are bombarded with every second in our lives from the time we take our first breath.
With that said, the thought started from watching a TV program and that is the point I would like to make.
We are all programmed to one extent or another like it or not… know this. If you watch any TV, read any news papers, magazines and or listen to radio programs then you are being programmed. Billboards Ads you name it we are showered with this to control us and keep as many of us in servitude until we die.
For whatever the reason, the Black man and his family is first on the list. From what I see, we are to last in everything… period.
The question for me is what will I do about it. Stay blessed fam.
