Anyone use Verizon 5G Home internet. ?

Anyone have experience with Verizon 5G Home internet? Fios is not available in my area and optimum is too expensive.

Unless you are in a very rural area, I would not recommend this. They are providing essentially a large mobile hotspot for your crib. Whatever speeds you have on a Verizon cell phone would be the speeds for your crib. I’d pay the extra money for a dedicated high speed internet source.

I used a competitor 5G Home Internet, the speeds were not bad, the ping was high. I don't like tying up wireless spectrum when you have a viable broadband choice. Many cable companies are equal in price and have removed data caps due to this competition.

The nice thing is portability, you can travel with them and use on other towers. Your speed is deprioritize but at least you can get unlimited internet on the road if you travel alot.

Does anyone have any experience with verizon's mobile hotspot devices? The hotspot on my phone is reliable, but that joint will disconnect from my laptop. Just looking for a more reliable connection

I have lots of experience with them through my job supporting folks who work remote.

They are fast and very reliable provided you are in a area with strong signals. The ones we have can support five connection at the same time. Doing this will make that thing work super hard so keep it plugged in when you have more than one person connecting.

Only negative comment I have about this is make sure your data plan is enough for your web needs month to month.

I had a user borrow one then two weeks later complained about speeds. Turns out she hit the data cap so Verizon slowed her hotspot down.

This is the crazy part she confessed to later, after I got the documented proof from Verizon. She let her son connect his XBOX to it while their home internet was down. His gaming ate up her devices data plan in a matter of two weeks.

She was stuck like chuck until the next billing cycle hit.

I wouldn't use it alot, but when I am traveling or on the road and need to connect I would need it.

The verizon home plan doesn't have data caps and is very fast, I doubt you would notice the difference between it and regular cable.

Look at the fine print for the most expensive one $80. Peep the line that reads 150GB premium.

This is how they get you. They say unlimited but the max is 150GB using 5G Ultra wideband and unlimited 600 Kbps speed when on 5G nationwide / 4G LTE for the rest of the month.

You see the bait and switch? You get the high speed 5G until you hit 150GB, then they knock you down to 4G LTE at 600 kbps until the next billing cycle. Verizon considers the drop to 4G LTE as your unlimited data plan. However the difference in speed between 5G and 4G LTE is a major drop in performance.

If you have the option to get TMobile 5G home internet.. doit.. I've had it for almost a year and I will never go back to Comcrap.. Wife has a deal now that is $25 per month.. I have downloaded over 2TB monthly consistently with no data caps.... We run multiple camera systems as well streaming to several tvs with no buffering or "degradation".. The only thing that is a negative is that you can't competitively game online due to latency.

i don't have too many cable/internet choices where i live...so I went with them....i get pretty good speeds most of the time...

i got no complaints..
