Got a family member that needs a bilateral hip replacement. Anyone familiar with that surgery?

Recovery? Quality of life afterwards?

I know folks who have had one hip done. They were totally mobile and pain free in a couple of weeks. By the time they finished PT at 6 weeks, they were good to go. I understand that if they cut from the front, the healing is quicker.

I knew a guy who needed both hips replaced. He could barely walk and in constant pain. After the surgeries he was back to normal.

My father. It's like night and day. The procedure has been perfected so well, you're home the next day. After a few weeks of recovery, my pops was back to his old self before the problems.

Shit is so routine these days. My cousin and big brother both have had full hip replacements. I know 2 other friends who have had knee replacements. Down time is minimal and most were back up and running in just a few weeks. My friend who got his knee replaced is a drummer and was gigging the next weekend.

I have a total hip replacement(all metal )and I know things have changed dramatically since but for the most part My hip will never be the same,it took me a year and a half and still to this day I use caution with my movements fuck around and have to go back under which I will at some point but I'm still young so I'm fighting that off or trying to by not doing anything to crazy.

Not over weight. She's 36. Steroids for another issue destroyed her hips. They told her she needed both replaced. And I'm not familiar with the surgery. I figured I'd ask around

She's in good shape. Young and she's worried about the recovery. Thanks for the advice fam. I really appreciate it.
