I tried to trade it like I’d do the first few trades in real life so I got a way OTM option for like $18 just to see what happens. TOS doesn’t update til end of today so I’ll see what it says.
On the good news front I just got approved for options on Webull. No margin just cash account. Probably for the best as just getting started.
Also NIO giving me back all the money I lost the other day so about to go green on that one!

How often is volume reported or is it a running total?
I use Webull and the volume is is shown with the stock in the info. My volume update is real time. It's also the bars at the bottom of the price chart. $CHFS$ currently shows 6.24M vol and the average is 7.58M.
Which broker do you use?

I bought a few more shares when I first posted the msg, but I'm holding and hoping for now. Doesn't make sense for me to exit at this point.

You should still be showing some profits on the extrinsic value though. Since it’s almost a month out and the stock made a solid move up there should have been value added to the Delta and even IV on the contract. Your break even should only matter around expiration. Right?
Side note: Looks like I have approval for options on my main account. Should kick in tomorrow. I want to be real selective on my first contract.

Yea you should be good. All the OTM contracts have some value until its gets closer to the date. If your P&L is positive then that is in addition to the premium payback for the margin. When it does go negative it shouldnt go past the amount you paid for the premium unless you sold a call or something. I called Schwab today and they really aint ask me no questions just like it should be done tomorrow. I'm thinking of giving it a go tomorrow on my Webull account. PETS had its worst day in 16 years after its earnings report but usually rebounds quickly and is on an upswing. I'm going to look to buy a $40 contract on a discount for Aug 21 for .70 or lower if its drops some more.
I'm shook but feel better that I can watch the p&l close and then hop out if i see something go wrong or make a quick profit.

Ok...For my +1 Aug-14-20 Call I paid $885 premium ($8.85/ share).
Right now it says that the market value is $1200.
So I then go to "Sell 1 Aug-14-20 205 Call @ 12 Limit to Close" and get this window:

..Yup, when I asked for options access, I did it all in one online chat and had them walk me through it. The dude told me to give him the confirmation number from the agreement pages and expedited the shit through. I was actually surprised it was so quick. I def feel you, once I decide to finally go live, it'll be super small scale for the time being. I just want wins even if they're minute for a while..

I think I know the problem. Your sell order probably didn’t fill yet. Peep your Liquid net and day trade line. That should show the expected value after the trade goes through. Have to make sure there is enough volume and interest to get the trade through

A couple of things. I think you both figured out that you can not trade options outside normal hours. With that being said, most traders do not set up options trades before hours.
Regarding "breakeven price," for now, dont focus on that. That is mostly for those you intend to hold the contract until expiration. Thats not us. We hold until we see a profit or loss trigger.
I think both of you moved on the MSFT suggestion. Ride that it at least through today. PH are looking promising. If you get "early," do sweat it. People lose money with the thinking "I could have made more money if I stayed with it." Nope, you can always buy another contact and make more money if the stock trend continues to have a positive increase.

$CHFS volume pump to $9.59M...ran to $.78...currently at $.76

Good call on this, I see the yearly high of $2.52 for this company what point are you looking to sel your shares or is this turning in to a longer hold?
im hoping it tests $1 today, if so I'm gonna cash out.
i bought in at .50 and got 1,200 shares. so if it reaches a dollar, it'll double my profit.
if it runs higher than a dollar, then i'll make sure my SL is $1, unless i cash out higher.

I plan on unloading as soon as I can, I'm still just getting my feet wet so feeling the process is important. The more I learn each day the more your strategy is making sense to me though.... and yea, I won't even let myself think about if this had been a real options trade with multiple contracts
