Anyone getting priced out of FL due to insurance and property tax hikes?

My job is based in Tampa, but I was hired as a remote employee 10 years ago... thankfully they have always had a large WFH footprint and have never pressured me to move down there. I'm jealous of the winter temperatures, but even before seeing this vid, I knew that me moving there would be extremely unlikely....

Yea he is interesting and I like his schtick of focusing on the cons of moving BUUUUUT

He STILL FOUND TIME TO SHIT ON FLORIDA talkin about Sea Levels......LOL

and he made sure to say at the end he LOVES living here....

LOL...

But obviously Florida is trying to slowdown the influx of people moving there,

ESPECIALLY people of low income....

Lived in Florida twice for a total of 4 years and luckily enough never had to deal with hurricanes or crazy storm damages. However; the insurance and property tax were still draining. I couldn't imagine paying all that money and the insurance company refusing or dragging ass to pay out.

We left in late October. Sold our home and bought in NYS.

Loved my time in FL but I left more for the political BS than insurance rates. We redid our roof in July which brought out insurance significantly down. That also helped with the sale of our home.

I still see a lot of people complaining about rates though. Yeah, NYS has high taxes but at least insurance rates aren't as high.

I live in Florida and to my knowledge USAA provides coverage only to existing policy holder and hasnt provided coverages to new customers

Nationwide hauled ass years ago

Four years are used to tell people that OK they don’t have any income tax, but everything else is hot as hell in that state. Georgia has an income tax, but guess what it’s a lot cheaper to live there an event in Metro Atlanta then Florida.

Right now the best place to go if you are black is in Metro Atlanta. The houses are not as cheap as they used to be, but they are still reasonable. Parts of Birmingham and Montgomery is sort of OK but you may have a huge issue with the government of Alabama.

I have been to that atlanta is on fire thread
seems all atlanta is about, is black kids killing each other

:yes:We on the verge of leap frogging Germany and becoming the #4th economy in the world. Whomever told you that can kick rocks.

Just think having automatic withdrawal and your payment got an $200 monthly insurance hike, without notification

Or your property tax has a $1200 annual increase after a year of buying your house

Make sure you are homesteaded. I didnt know about that for the first 3 years after I bought.

They are going to run a lot of people out of Florida and we are in beginning hurricane season. I told my mother that I do not want to come back to Miami. I’m going to all I can to maintain everything in Atlanta.

Damn. This, along with DeKlantis, is the reason we left FL. Yeah, we have higher taxes in NYS, but our homeowners insurance is low as fuck.
If they get hit by another hurricane this year specially, a cat four or a cat five Florida is going to be changed forever. Oh, and don’t forget about climate change with that damn state.
