I tested a couple different HDMI cables to see if there truly was a recognizable difference from a high end one to the one that comes with PS5. There is. It’s slight, but in the long run, you would benefit from a 2.1 cable.

I’m finally getting around to tryin these audioquest joints. So far I’m seeing some solid improvements in both audio and video. My main interest is for film and tv vs gaming and depending on the film it’s wild how much more range and clarity I get particularly in terms of dark scenes. I’ve had to adjust both brightness/gamma in particular depending on the cable line. Tried Blueberry. Cinnamon. Chocolate. Carbon. And an earc vodka.
Carbon cable was bad (but got that one from a source I wasn’t 100% on anyhow).
And, except for the vodka which as earc is the Soundbar focused build - every one of the others made a clear improvement over my monoprice joints. Now I’m trying to decide which of the chocolate cinnamon and blueberry gives me the best improvement and overall value for the investment.
HT Audio wise I liked the cinnamon optical/toslink as a bump on my older Sonos setup
and the cinnamon hdmi for my LG Soundbar setup
straight audio - I picked up a few DACs to try and went with their dragonfly cobalt (which I hate in terms of cost) but because the sound is good enough and mostly bec it’s conveniently small to fuck with iPhone and iPad inline between headphones and as aux in my car. I’m working through their Sydney 3.5mm and I have I think 3.5 forest also I need to compare the Sydney against this week.
all this shit is expensive as a mutherfucker. But tbh I’m enjoying hearing and seeing new shit in my old shit - movies, music, etc.
love to hear from anyone else has done this type of comparison. Especially if you found some other brands that made a worthwhile difference
and - if anybody has tips on getting a picture quality up leveled from a spectrum dvr… please let a nigga know… I can’t go back to DTV which I remember being a lot better, but spectrum supposed 1080p is straight garbage lol even with a small improvement from the cable swap
