this can easily be solved by getting a 4k roku or firestick box or stick. It will play 4k content like a champ. All your tv has is a built in decoder that will play some but not all content based off the extension, which is based off the license fees that paid to use. A roku 4k or firestick 4k will play what your tv can't natively play without issues.

Technically no as long as you don't care about gaming beyond 60hz. If you want the features 2.1 provides (variable refresh rate, 4k 120hz gaming) then you'll need a tv capable of 2.1 HDMI signal. It really depends on how much you care about getting the most out of ps5 or series x games.
If said firestick or Roku has a USB slot, yes. To my knowledge, they do not. A Bee or WDTV should also do the trick. And that is precisely how I'm going to try to work-around my sister's TV: I have an old WDTV. So we'll see.

junk lolI have a 5TB External hard drive with over 2000 movies and TV shows on it. I wouldn't be actually contemplating buying a new TV but the 75" I got a few years ago has burned in images in it (Samsung UN75MU9000) and NOW Samsung increased their warranty from 1 to 3 years

Bruh, I have 2 LG E7 series(2017 model) 55" and 65." My 55" has slight burn in. It's cool I'm gonna pick up a CX series when I'm finally able to get a PS5.
That burn in your TV burns you up. I got one in my 9000 series and every time I see it it infuriates me. I just bought an 8000 series 85" to replace the 85"

My question is this: has LG installed the media player in their TVs that Samsung has? One of the biggest benefits of Samsung is being able to plug an external hard drive directly into the TV to play movies.
As I've said before, I've got a 5TB hard drive full of movies. When family comes over or when kids come over I can pop it in and they can watch to their hearts content more than they'll find on Netflix

Bought my parents an M series 70" about 4/5 years ago. Shit crapped out (power box). $1650 damage. Luckily, I bought a 5 year squaretrade warranty. They ended up with a 2020 70" low budget tv in return.

When you do squaretrade make sure to list out all the features of your TV....for example Sony 65 inch Android Smart system FALD 120Hz LED 4K HDR Dolby Vision TV with HDMI 2.1...so when something goes wrong you can point out all the features your replacement must have for you to consider it equivalent...people been saying since Allstate took over SquareTrade they have been lowballing everybody on replacement TVs
I was planning to buy one of those new TCL TVs that are specialized for gaming, but they don’t have the HDMI 2.1 slots. Apparently that’s what you need to really experience the graphics with these new systems

How does burn in occur? I had Samsung TV and had no issues. Now this one has a burn in and I cant wait to get rid of it. It's getting worse. Sad, because it's a 9000 series and other than the burn mark I like the TV

A year and a half, and I was watching/playing all three. It's barely noticeable when it's displaying dark/muted colors, but much more so on bright colors, especially red.
A static image like a chanel logo, score board for sports, or a hud for games. Basically anything on the screen that doesn't change or move for a long time is usually the cause.

That sucks man. Does your set have pixel refresh? That supposedly helps prevent or even improve a oled with burn in.
Yeah, it does a brief pixel refresh automatically when it's powered down. Or you can manually have it do a more thorough refresh which takes roughly an hour, I've tried that, it didn't help.
I've had this TV 2 years and I've had Samsung tvs for much longer and this is the first one I've had issue with. How do I prevent it? Sometimes fall asleep with the game on pause or a movie on pause, could that be the cause?

Burn in shouldn't happen on a LED/LCD TV....burn in is a problem with emissive displays which include CRT (old school big back TV), plasma and now OLED....emissive pixels can generate their own light....LCD TVs (LED, QLED etc are just variations of LCD TV) are transmissive displays which means they use a backlight...they shouldn't have burn in except in extremely rare cases

Could be vertical banding or DSE (dirty screen effect)...when you get your new TV, go on youtube and search for DSE, banding test videos and observe your TV closely to verify its a good panel....dont overdo the tests because it you look too hard for a problem you will find it and it may be the kind of thing that never shows up in normal viewing...gonna be honest, all I see in that pic is a little fuzziness on one side but my eyes have rapidly deteriorated post 40 or it may be the kind of thing that shows up better in real life...I would say its much more likely to be banding, DSE etc before I would go with burn in

With my Samsung UN75MU9000, having the 5TB hard drive directly plugged into the TV it seemed like the movies were more crisp. On the UN85TU8000FXZA the movie seemed grainy and not as crisp.
Is there a way I can upscale the image? I know the hard drive is a USB device, but the movies I download are Blu-ray quality and that doesn't show.
Is there a go between or maybe a connection I could plug the external hard drive into to connect via HDMI or something? I would really like a better picture with my movies. I love the size of the TV though
