Anyone ever own or have any experience with the 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

I'm thinking about getting a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee just because I've always wanted one. I've been doing a little research and I've been getting mixed review. I'm think of getting one no more that 130k miles on it. I've been seeing them sale between $5k-$7k in my area. I've read reviews were people absolutely love them and other were they hate them. Jeep owners, what was your experience like?

I had one. It had rear end problems towards the end but it ran good up until then.

Yeah I had a 98 and a 00, the 98 I had to get the rear seal on the transmission replaced, the 00 I got rid of before I ever had a major problem with it. They are pretty reliable vehicles, fun to drive.

buying a car with 130k miles?

seriously?

Do the math, truck is 11 years old. That is less than 12k miles a year, so it was probably someones second source of transportation, had minimal use and not driven hard. That is not a lot of miles.

Seems like they run good.. I see a lot of folk with the older models especially the SRT8

Can't fuck with used jeeps. If you buying used with 130K miles or less on it get a Toyota.

:yes:man listen i juust bought a 04 jeep grand cher. an love it.mile dont mean shit its how it was taking care of thats all.an as long as you tAKE care of anycar it will be fine.mines have 160,xxx an runs like a champ because the owner before me took great care of it.do it buy the jeep.

New Cars To Avoid: Jeep Wrangler, Nissan Xterra And More

Jeep Wrangler
This brash SUV can trace its lineage to the original Jeeps from WWII, and it remains among the most off-road capable models on the market. While the Wrangler has received steady improvements over the years to help make it more civilized, even adding four-door Unlimited models to help broaden its appeal, it remains inferior to virtually all other vehicles in terms of sophistication, accommodations and on-road performance. According to Consumer Reports, “the ride rocks and jiggles constantly, and handling is very clumsy…wind noise becomes very loud at highway speeds…getting in and out is an awkward act…the interior is uncomfortable.” What’s more, the Wrangler performed “marginally” in side- and rear-crash performance in IIHS testing and received poor ratings for initial quality and reliability from J.D. Power.

If someone gave me one of these shits for free, I'd still get rid of it.

I use to drive them back in the 90s to mid 2000s.

I had a 97,a 2000 and a 2003...Grand Cherokees....loved them.

Only issues I had....seemed like little things would break, and the last one had an electrical issue,but..

I was leasing them...so major issues were not my problem.

:lol:why are americans AFRAID of cars once the magical 100,000 mile mark is passed?

old cars can be a steal when purchased from a good owner.

but this is bgol, dude. once a car hits 100,000 miles, it's useless, worn-out, and beat up.:hmm:

back in 03'....i had a 98 Grand Cherokee....mufucka was nice.
i wouldnt get one with that many miles on it tho.
maybe all u got to work with is that Buy Here/Pay Here credit....
to each his own.

I own a "99" Grand Cherokee,Just took it off the road. Has 180,000 miles. Just started giving me problems last summer. Had to change the water pump. With a car with that many miles there are going to be some issues. Power windows that work when they want to, A/C fans, under carrage bushings etc, etc. But from 2006 t0 20014 it never failed me if you can get one in the price range you ,go for it just remember it's not a new car, it's a Jeep. Parked my "99" in the back and got a H2 Hummer.

No, they hate non Japanese cars with those type of numbers.

It's like dating a chick with 40 dicks on her resume. From a dark skin chick, you're not going to fall for that. but if she's lightskin, you're willing to overlook it. :hmm::rolleyes:

I fuck with those Wranglers the looong way. Take the top off and just ride. They have never had a luxurious ride, but it's a fuckin off road vehicle, not a Lincoln.

I'm still pushing my 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Bought it brand new at the end of 2000, I have 293,000+ miles on it and she's still going. Fun to drive. Had to replace transmission when it hit 30,000, but was still under warranty, so it was all good. Haven't had a problem with it (transmission) since. As with anything, with age comes some problems. But like anything else...take care of it, it will take care of you. Especially during the winter. Just so you know, Im in the DC area...so we get snow in the winter. Now...I think 5-7k is a bit much for an 11 year old vehicle with that many miles. But, if you can find one closer to the 5K or under...might not be so bad. Good luck

I had an 04 Grand Cherokee & loved it. I eventually got rid of it when I had rear end & early stage transmission issues. I sold it to my cousin since I didn't wanna spend anything to fix it knowing I was switching to a car. My only reason for switching was the gas mileage wasn't great
