I've heard different stories about how it originated in prison by some Fleece Johnson dude called mother Dear. Another story saying it originated in Africa. But anybody study or practice this?
I've sparred with dudes that use this and it's cool if you don't know what you're doing. But kicks and takedowns destroy this. I actually fought dudes who use this when I worked in the prison

This isn't a hate thread and I'm not turning it into this style is better than the other just seeking reputable information

Them 52 hand blocks was created by a bull queer in prison. 52 blocks can't stop 52 bullets.

" those 52 handbocks was useless"
~Gza cold world~

Right, the mother dear dude. There's an older Puerto Rican dude that goes to my gym. He practices this all the time and I asked him about the rumor. He said it's true but mother nature knew who to try

oral tradition, the leading candidate was Mother Dear, a predatory homosexual and inmate of the New York penal system who reportedly used the 52s to beat reluctant sexual partners into submission. According to legend, adepts learned the 52s while incarcerated, frequently after being raped by their mentors.

You right about saying he knew who to try though. That's how he picked his victims.

Lol y'all new Yorkers are crazy for real. I had a friend from new York in high school was like that. He use to fight kids using street fighter 2 special moves. They said he beat a kid up using the m bison slide.
They've started using bjj techniques now and giving them 52 blocks name

Muay Boran, wing Chun, that other style I forget the name but became famous after the Batman movie.
The shit that pissed me off is them comparing it to dambe/Senegalese wrestling .
I know I started by saying this wasn't a hate thread but the arrogance changed my mind. Even the dudes I fought and sparred were honest about it

The stuff Steven Seagal learned was at a time when orientals was still trying to keep certain stuff within their race, even though the martial arts came from us. That aikido is a serious art to be raised up with. Our true history is what the martial arts is about. Eating right and learning to be as one with the universe and having total control of self. You cannot have a master if you control yourself. But they try to raise us up learning about democracy and a mystery God.

In some prisons that root da keg became a fighting style because they practiced it so much. You would always see dudes grabbing each other by the pants and trying to root each other up off his feet.

I got introduced and started learning wrestling when I watched sambo videos and was/is a huge Fedor fan. I started fighting rubbing my forearms like I was rubbing sand so I wouldn't get grabbed. An elder told me it ancestors did it when they fought when I looked it up and saw the origins I've been hooked ever since

It was being used in Southside ,Queens around 1975- 1976.........and I was probably late
So can you put some credibility to this? I like researching things for better understanding and not hearing as these mystery tales of dudes trying be more than what they are.

Zab used it in the first round against mayweather and it had him hesitant

A lot of jail cats up here used it in the 70’s-80’s

If you saw that dance of death the razor came out

And mother dear was notorious

I knew about it with Zab and heard hybrid stories about mother dear. I know a few brothers from VA that talk about 52 blocks and it's mixed answers mostly because of mother dear.
It seems to be evolving to include ground game
My issue is I hate when we come to one another for knowledge, it's always MFS making shit weird

You try that shit with someone like Roberto Durant and he would punch you in your elbow so hard that your own fist would knock back to your face, so hard you'd knock yourself out.
But in all seriousness, Floyd's crab shell defense is a modified version of this technique, but the biggest thing about both is that you better have the skill and reflexes to pull it off, if not, go back to my first statement.

Mother dear and z black were fleece Johnson before fleece Johnson

There’s way too many stories to truly piece together where the 52 originated

Not even that, i saw this white dude destroy a guy that was doing 52 blocks. Just the way the white boy change levels and used kicks, he used basic Muay attacks and had buddy leaking
