Anybody Have Any Injet Printer Recommendations? HP Sucks Ass!

Would it not be worth your while to upgrade to the next level up or is the wear and tear that taxing?:dunno:

Most of the time it’s user error being careless or rushing. The level up printer may not be worth the hassle. I may try that one day though. Never thought about dropping an extra hundred to see if it’s more durable.

It’s almost like scotch to me. I’ve had $12 bottles, $60 bottles and $160 bottles. Can’t tell much difference between the 60-160

That doesnt even make sense unless you buying $50 printers. $200 printer cost more then buying ink for $60
I imagine that those are THE most basic printers with no other functions whatsoever. I bought a mobile printer from my son's girlfriend who was cash strapped back in the day. It fits in your laptop bag and everything, but I knew when I bought it, it was already phased out. I never could find any ink for the damn thing, unfortunately, but I only spent $20 for it.

:smh: Trifling. You couldn't just loan her $20?

I never even interacted with her. The offer was made on an outdated mobile printer that she wouldn't have gotten shit for from a Pawn Shop. ME buying it was to her advantage.
I GAVE her $20 (her price btw) for a device that she had no need for and I couldn't find ink for.

I have a discontinued Canon MG5220. It has individual tanks for black, red, blue, and yellow.

It doesn't do that bullshit that some printers do where they refuse to print in black and white because you're out of blue ink.

One black cartridge last me easily 6-12 months. I don't print a whole lot though.

If I printed a lot, I'd probably get a laser printer instead.

I have a 8610

I have the same exact problem, I went and bought one cartridge, now it's telling me I need another :hmm:

Sheet I bought a cheap ass printer for 29 dollars off eBay expecting to dump it after a few months..

It's been over a year and it's still cranking it's brother my some shit..

When I dump it I'm going laser

I've been using HP products for years...hell, for decades now but I need a hack for these muhfuckin' cartridges or a brand that will print plain text when the fuckin' magenta is depleted!:curse:

There was a time, like back when pay phones were still a thing on most corners, I used to go to Kinko's or other joints to FAX paperwork. As time went on, that became inconvenient to go somewhere to pay for a FAX to be sent.
I had a dedicated landline installed at home and bought the HP OfficeJet 6400.
Hewlett_Packard_(HP)_Officejet_J6400_Series.jpg

It was a nice printer, packed with features and performed very well. You could even buy competing ink cartridges for it instead of HP's pricier ink. The ONLY issue with it was having a tether it to the computer.

As soon as the HP 6500 series came out, I jumped on it.

It was wireless, so that created space. I could take it off of my desk and put it on its own little makeshift station closer to the phone jack. With THIS model, if any of the color cartridges were depleted, you could still print black so I could still print documents. It would annoy the fuck out of you with reminders, but it would print nonetheless.
They had also modified the cartridges from the 6400 too so generic ink was not as much of an option anymore...ink is how they make their money anyway.:money:

Later on, I was on the move a lot for the Army, so I bought the 8600 for my wife to use at home and took the 6500 with me.

With this printer, as soon as you run out of one color of ink, that's a wrap. I've had this thing since 2011 or 12. It has all of the features of the previous printers that I've had from HP, but this is expandable for use in a Small Business setting, etc.
On numerous occasions, I couldn't print a document for work or coursework or whatever because the Cyan was empty. I fucked with the thing for a couple of days trying to trick it into printing plain text documents, to no avail.:hmm: I went to buy the muhfuckin Cyan, installed it and...another color HAS to be replaced before printing can resume. :curse:

I went back to the store and bought the next color, installed it. Good to go! Nope...wrong again! I had to replace all three of them muhfuckas to print a fucking Word doc. Needless to say, I was irate.

Looking at the indicator on the printer and the laptop showed that only the first color was "completely" out of ink but as soon as you replace one, HP has you by the balls. "Nah neggu, go get another one. In fact, get all three of 'em." These muhfuckas!:smh::smh::smh: They're like Debo askin', "What chu got on my ink cartridges?"

I'm convinced that there's a page counter on the chip of the cartridges. When you shake them, there's still ink in them and you HAVE to use HP cartridges. It's programmed into the hardware to detect their own shit.

Anyway, does anybody have other brands that don't pull this bullshit on the consumer? I replaced two cartridges last month and I can't print a damn Word doc yet again.:hithead:

I just read this again. Under your printer settings, do you have an option to print in grayscale or black and white? I could have sworn that is a printer option I used to use when I had the ink tanks that were combined and one of the colors were out to keep printing.

Bro!!! Get you a EcoTank All-In-One Printer by Epson!!!!!! Look them up on Google!!!! You will not have to purchase ink for almost 2 years!!!!! I have had one for a year and I'm only half way through the ink (black & color ink)!!!!!!!

:eek2:I didn't even think to try that! I'll give it try and report back.

Those eco tank printers are nice kind of expensive initially though
That's sort of trade off then, I suppose. Printers are reasonably priced, but they get you with the ink, so the tank printer puts the cost of the device up front and sell the ink for less.

Nope, it didn't work. :hmm: Sorry muhfuckas got me by the balls.

Awww. Sorry. That's been an option on all the printers I've ever had. I haven't really had to use it since I started using the single ink tanks.

I've only ever owned 3 printers since 98. They've all lasted years. The first was a cannon, second and fav an Epson all and one I got for free with purchase and now the HP. I loved the Epson because the text was good and the scanner I could scan multiple pictures at once into multiple files. This HP is trash, they changed their software and it doesn't do it. Apple users say they have that option with their software tho.

It stopped working properly once, wouldn't print black ink. There are two set of HP instructions for clearing the print head, one doesn't go far enough. I wasted a bunch of ink fixing it about a year ago but it's been working fine since.

I'm thinking of going with the Epson, buying the last fuckin' Magenta cartridge for this bitch and put it on LetGo or some shit.

Some cheap ass niggas in here lol
Sometimes it's about being practical. Killa will buy a whole new printer instead of ink...works for him. :dunno:
My brother will spend $1500 on a car and when that bitch quits running, he leaves that muhfucka right where it sits, wash, rinse, and repeat.
My wife on the other hand, she just HAD to have the latest phone, all shiny and new, with all the bells and whistles and all she did with it was play stupid shit like Candy Crush or whatever other shit was on Facebook, a post photos. She never came close to using any of those muhfuckas for what they were capable of AT ALL, but she just had to have it and wouldn't settle for a more basic phone.:hmm::angry:
She wanted and iPad...just to do the same shit as she was doing on her phone.:curse::lol:

When she passed away, I contacted TMobile to turn off HER phone. These muhfuckas done made so much off of my wife, they asked me if there was anyone who I'd like to just GIVE the phone to so they could keep their hands in my wallet. Fuckin' HILARIOUS!
:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

It wasn't about being cheap, it was about need vs want.
I don't print so much as to meet the justify replacing the printer, but fuck HP for all the years of buying their products only to be held hostage like this shit. This muhfucka is on the way OUT!

Yup! I've been through that a couple of times. It pissed me off that I had to double back to Wal Mart. I wasted the whole damn first trip.:curse::hmm:

There are a lot of favorable reviews for some of the aftermarket cartridges but this is my concern right here:

Coraben

4.0 out of 5 starsHP All in One rejected this non-HP ink
February 10, 2019
Verified Purchase
There was nothing wrong with these ink cartridges but they were rejected with various error messages. My device would not let me replace just the ink I use- black, even tho it was HP brand. It refused to print until the colors were replaced and then (I later found out from Office Max staff) because I replaced the others with non-HP ink to save about a hundred dollars, it gave me a replace printhead message. Office Max said that often happens, that HP puts something in their ink that enables their devices to recognize foreign ink and reject it. Just a warning to others to beware. I have not yet replaced the ink with HP brand because I cannot afford it and ethically I am conflicted about whether I want to acquiesce to this HP tactic or just buy a more user friendly AIO from a company with less extortive prices.

I don't think there's anything proprietary about HPs ink, it's in the chip on the cartridge and I did see some claiming to have updated chips. The printer has to be tricked into accepting the ink.
I must've read a thousand comments like that last sentence when I first came across this issue years ago when I was looking for a hack.

It's annoying as hell.

It used to have replacement cartridges you could get off Amazon. Which was convenient, because I could just get them primed to me. One of those updates fucked that up.

If you can stick with the black and white joints, IMO. I had color joints for years and the ink kept drying up and fucking up the nozzles. Black and white just keeps working. I realized I ain't printing no pics, the quality ain't the same and too expensive, just take colors to walgreens or wherever u print. Less maintenance, less ink, less fuss , less money, with b/w.
