Anybody BGOL nerds like me follow the International Space Station? It's flying over Cleveland area tonight at 7:50 pm.

In about 40 minutes it will be visible for 7 minutes if you're anywhere near Cleveland.

Anywhere you're at you can get these texts to let you know when it will be in your area. It's pretty cool to watch.

(SpotTheStation) Time: Wed Oct 06 7:50 PM, Visible: 7 min, Max Height: 48 degrees, Appears: WNW, Disappears: SE

It could be cool to see

They have an app that alerts you when the ISS and other satellites are making a transit Moon/Sun over your area. The Satellite Transit Finder.
Just don't let the Flattards find out, they may lose it!

Missed it.

Sorry Gene I shoulda made this
thread earlier or yesterday. The
Space Station flies by all the
time.

BGOL, check out this nasa link
for info on the sightings in any
area you're at. I will find the link
that can also text or email you
when the ISS will fly by your area.

My gf and I been checking this out
since about a year ago. I have a
nine inch lens computer Telescope
that I've been meaning to set up
for months now but haven't gotten
around to it yet.

The space station makes a full
orbit around the earth every 90
minutes! It travels 5 miles per
second... if my math it right, that's
18,000 miles per hour! It goes around the earth 16 times every
24 hours. The people in it sees 16
sunrises and sunsets everyday.

@gene cisco, the Space Station
will fly over Cleveland again
tomorrow at 7:53 pm and will be
visible for 4 minutes. Hopefully it
won't be too cloudy.

Date: Fri Oct 8, 7:53 PMVisible: 4 minMax Height: 17°Appears: 10° above WDisappears: 10° above S

Thanks for the info. My kids will probably want to check it out.

The space station can do all of that and you can’t even get us one single picture?

Houston has a problem. Take a pic for us.

You can take a picture of it yourself. Just sign up to the NASA Spot The Station site and they will alert you whenever it's in your area and sightings that are high enough in the sky (40 degrees or more) and last long enough to give you the best view of the orbiting laboratory.

When you get a pic (a video might be better), post it for all of BGOL to see.

Nah I’ll be like you and keep the pics to myself.

I never bothered taking pictures of
it because a still pic would look like
just another star in the sky or maybe
a very large jet going by, but instead
of 5 miles high like a plane, this
aircraft is 255 miles in the air!

I gotta ask though... you seem to
be full of venom and vitriol with
a lot of members here. Did I do
something to piss you off?

Tell you what... I'll make a short
video and post it for you the next
time I see it. How about that?

I think you have me confused with another member. I’m one of the most positive posters here who encourages and is happy for everyone and wish them the best.

When they switch up and act crazy it’s easy for me to dive into the negative with them. But I’d prefer it be positive. Similarly to the way I am in this thread.

I was happy that you were going to see the space station and wanted you to share that experience with all of us. That’s why I encouraged you to share pictures.

Also the strange part about this venom and vitriol to at I have for other members, I actually don’t have a problem with any members.

But now that you explained that it’ll look like just another star in the sky, now I understand why you didn’t share a pic.

Sorry for the late heads up
@gene cisco but I've been too
busy because the ISS has been
over Cleveland and visible
dozens of times but it will fly
over twice tonight. The first time
will be at 5:53 and the second
time will fly by at 7:30. First one
be visible in the sky for 6 minutes
while the second one will only be
visible for 1 minute.

Damn... it will circle the earth and
fly right over us again 96 minutes
later... that's fucking nuts! o_O

Date: Sat Nov 20, 5:53 PMVisible: 6 minMax Height: 40°Appears: 10° above SSWDisappears: 15° above ENE

So I step out of Menard's at 5:55 and I stare off towards the SSW horizon...and I see a white blinking light......

It was heading east.....then it moves S ......

and I realized I just saw a plane leaving Hopkins Airport.... I'll try again for 7:30, haha

I saw it pass by a few months ago. It's fucking amazing how high up it is and how fast it goes by. Traveling at approximately 18,000 MPH. Circling Earth once every 90 minutes. It's fucking phenomenal to observe.

2 minutes @gene cisco

Where you at?
Shit. I was sleeping. You just reminded me about this. I think I might look into getting my oldest daughter a telescope(or binoculars) for Christmas. I just put this in my notes so I don't forget this time.
