Basically any device that's important to me that I would hate to have damaged from a sudden power outage or power surge.
Which one are y’all rocking withHell yeah you should! I run one on my PC/PS5 and another for my Synology that houses Plex and my data.
When I built my server, a few months later a storm came through and cut the power. Lost a whole 4TB drive, corrupted. PC/PS5/NAS do not like having their power abruptly cut. Hell we had crazy storms last WEEK that had our power glitching on and off, but my electronics kept rolling. It at least gives you a chance to shut things off gracefully, my server will automatically shut the NAS down in like 30 minutes when it sees it's running on battery power, same with the PC.
APC and Cyberpower are the two main brands I use, just depends on how many devices you connect to it in terms of specific models.Which one are y’all rocking with
I only have it for my NAS's so if the power goes out I can shut them down gracefully. I hear there is a way to automatically do that, but I haven't had the time to look into setting that up.Should I be using an ups backup battery ?

CyberPower EC650LCD for my PS5 and PC and TV and Nvidia Shield.Which one are y’all rocking with
What NAS do you use? On my Synology there's a section in the settings to manage UPS options. If I'm away from home and it's thundering it will do a graceful shutdown if it's on battery and I can set the shutdown time from any where to 10 minutes to an hour or so, or a certain battery percentage. I can also set it to automatically power back on when the coast is clear.I only have it for my NAS's so if the power goes out I can shut them down gracefully. I have a Western Digital PR4100 for my BGOL "stuff", a QNAP TS-664 for media I can show my mother and a Terramaster F2-212 as a backup NAS.What NAS do you use? Do you have it setup where if the backup power supply is active it shutsdown?
Yeah, I just got an old ass APC that work didn't want anymore. Replaced the batteries for free, it doesn't have any new featuresYeah my Synology NAS connects to the UPS via a USB cable so it can read the power state. I have it set to put the NAS in standby mode to stop all services and unmount all volumes to prevent data loss. It will power down the NAS gently before the UPS runs out of juice.
You get a lot more extra features for free with Jelly Fin, but the community is slow on updates. I am using Emby on my porn NAS just to keep media separate.Gonna tinker with Jellyfin again
Find a plug in that lets me use Plex's boxart and graphics. Jellyfin adds its own which ads gigs and gigs of extra space
Depending on what you're running them on that should be fine. PLEX and Jellyfin run off of different ports so the network traffic should be fine. I ran Emby and PLEX on an old NAS and didn't have any problems. Now if you have that feature that watches your library for anything new added that can use up a lot of memory, because they'll both be running at the same time. For some reason, I can't quote but I plan on keeping Plex and running Jellyfin on side of it...
2tb ? We all gotta start somewhere I guessUsing a basic 2TB HDD on my Dell Rig separate from my OS.
Why have 2 apps that do the same thing running at the same time ?For some reason, I can't quote but I plan on keeping Plex and running Jellyfin on side of it...

Why ?
The Emby feature is DOGSHYT!!! PLEX works pretty good, but sometimes the Recently Added won't add media that PLEX found. It's in the Library, but it isn't categorized as Recently Added.I keep that feature turned on, even though it doesn't work all of the time.
Sometimes you can force boxart by using the TVDBID number, but sometimes that media just isn't loaded where you're pulling from. I had a similar problem with the Witcher Rats movie. Come to find out that the movie wasn't loaded on any of the movie tracking sites.I haven't reinstalled Jellyfin just yet because Plex does NOT give me any problems, it can be annoying at time in mixing file names or not detecting new media or having to dig through menus and options to fix certain small issues (like box art) but Plex is to video streaming what Retroarch is to emulation, people have love/hate relationships with them and are always looking for an alternative but the alternatives are typically full of new options but ran by smaller teams of devs, have slower update schedules and/or just ready to be a daily driver.
No lies. Got one of those black friday deals or something. Been well worth it.That $75 I paid 10/15 years ago for a lifetime pass coming in clutch

Because one is totally free and the other is charging $750 for a lifetime membership. Why have 2 apps that do the same thing running at the same time ?
I’ll start using jellyfish when plex stops working for meBecause one is totally free and the other is charging $750 for a lifetime membership.
and sooner or later, I suspect Plex will begin locking things behind a paywall or charging a monthly fee for their app.
While not exactly the same thing but I think Tivi Mate charges a monthly fee for it's app, so it's already being done.
I'm not about to pay for access to my own shit.
I completely understand if people wanna watch their libraries outside of their houses and want features that will require Plex to charge because they are costly to maintain but streaming from my desktop or home server/NAS to my living room TV should be free, if my computer and TV is doing the leg work.
I’ll start using jellyfish when plex stops working for me
Are y’all getting tv shows in 720p or 1080p ?
Edit
I didn’t think to add 4k because in my view , 7 seasons of a show in 4k would be insane
But years ago at one point all my movies were 720p so….
im currently updating all my fav HD ERA shows from 720p to 1080pMovies are generally going to be in 1080p.
TV shows are going to depend.
Nobody is going to remaster pre-HDTV sitcoms into 4K, we are never getting Fresh Prince in 4K, so having those at 480p or 720p is fine and the A.I. based remastering of A Different World that TVOne did looks ok but there are times when it's obvious that it's been done with AI and I don't want classic sitcoms upscaled that way.
and I figure if I spend the money on a name brand 4K TV, it'll probably have options to upscale the picture.
The budget priced Insignias I have clean up most of my shit quite nicely.
I do tv shows in 1080 to save space. 100+ TV shows in 4K would be massive. Are y’all getting tv shows in 720p or 1080p ?
