Any plex users here ? Important 2025 Plex Updates 3/19

ATT finally laid fiber on my block last summer. I immediately switch over from Crapcast. Now that I have a decent upload I had everyone turn their stream settings to max. Pushed 5 4K streams around Xmas.

What do you get on Speedtest now and what was before the change ?

I push 350/350 now on fiber. Was getting 150/10 before. It was supposed to hit 100up but they could never get it working right. And I actually pay a few bucks less to boot.

350mbps down
seems low for fiber, i always thought fiber you get over 1GB
I have the Comcast regular non fiber 800mb plan and I get 950 down & 20 up, that's plenty for me, the most people i ever had streaming at the same time is 3
and i dont share 4k content only 1080p/720p

What can I say, I'm fuckin poor. Seriously though, their 300mb plan works for us. Its 300 down and up since fiber is asynchronous but I always hit 350 each way. They have a 500mb plan as well before you get to the 1GB plan. But 300 is fine, I can push 5 4K streams, play my PS5 and have downloads going all at once with no hiccups.
 
Btw plex is showing random people user reviews now
You can turn this of in plex settings , I did right away



Settings wrench icon > Account > Settings > "Ratings & Reviews From"

No not on my devices. Tonight is family movie night so I will be in there later. But they look like they're moving to a Netflix-like interface which I LOATHE the Netflix UI. Navigating their UI I want to FIGHT! Like I make everyone leave the room when I am browsing Netflix cause the slightest thing sets me off when browsing Netflix.

Does your server automatically initiate a scan when new media is added?

I haven't had automatic scan work in many months.

I noticed a few days ago a TV show I wanted to watch was missing from my Plex browser on my firestick. But it was showing up on all my other devices. Did some comparison and found 3 more missing. I couldn't figure it out at first, switched scanners, restarted the container, rescanned the folders, nothing. Then I hit the 3 dots next to Home, hit Reset All Customizations and bam, they all came back. Never had that happen before.

plex is getting bloated like iTunes did in the past
 
I like the watchlist feature in plex
It tells you on what other services you have that movie on
But now my watchlist is over 100 movies
I keep adding more than watching
 
has anybody here digitized VHS home movies to digital to put on plex for the family
what would be the best way in 2025
I have a vhs player,
I have like 5 vhs home movies that I need to turn into digital

There really was only one generation that had VHS/Betamax. Basically the early 80's and a couple of years in the 90s. That's it. By 1992 there was those big ass Laserdiscs, then the mini discs then DVD
 
They added a new category that I don’t remember ever seeing , like they do seasonal Christmas,Halloween
The new one is called , “ the nominees are..” With this year Oscar nominated movies

I've seen it, I recently added Nickel Boys and I saw it.

Have you added any Oscar nominated movies?
