Any Mechanics On The Board?

The A/C in my car went out today. When I turned it on, no cool air blew out, but I heard a hissing sound coming from under the hood....Kinda like the sound that comes out when you unhook a hose and nothing but air is blowing out. This sound only comes out when I switch to the A/C. Any suggestions on what this could be and how much am I looking at to pay to fix it? Or hell, could I fix it myself?​

I agree or a broken serpentine belt that drives the compressor. The first thing I recommend is open the hood.

The Hissing sound is the sound of money slowing being drained from your bank account.
