I'm interested in learning about stocks, investments, and trading. I'm getting ready to go back to school and dont know what course to take. Any info you guys give me is great. Thanks in advanced.

Buy "Getting Started In Stocks" by Alvin D. Hall. You can get it dirt cheap on Amazon.com if you buy it used.

Thanx. Ill be picking that book up either today or tomorrow. What kind of course would you have to take in college to become a stocker broker or a financial planner?

I'm guessing something like Business. You have to be sponsored buy a firm in order to become a broker or financial planner.

To be a broker you will have to have a financial or economic background. It's not required but it would be helpful. Then you have to get a job at a company in whch you will have a certain number of days to pass your series. Since you are concerned about being a broker you will have to pass your series plus depending on the state in which you live you may have to pass a state exam also. I believe the test you what to look at is for the Series 7. Now if you are willing to do all of that why not consider portfolio manager. I don't know which license they have butif you are interested I can ask. I am told that initially when you start you do the grunt work and as you knock out the work nobody wants eventually you move up. If you choose that route be prepared to work 12-14 hour days. Another way to get there is to work for an insurance company. Instead of Mutual Funds their investment vehicles are called Separate Accounts.
