So just got done overseeding my lawn. I finally got to use my Landzie compost spreader to put down Peat Moss. Bought about 6 bags and that still wasn't enough. I put the peat moss down where it needed it most in my shade areas (used a shade perennial Ryegrass) that have quite a few bare spots

We have a garden space out back at work. The yield over the years = apples / plums / green beans / kale / cherry tomatoes / strawberries. One of the new people that joined the company in December has a background as a landscape technician, and in horticulture. He's said he's looking forward to sprucing up the garden in the months ahead. So that should be good ... help bring it up to speed, etc. The weather has been hit and miss lately (plenty of rain) ... so he's waiting for warmer weather to get out there more.

There's a separate landscape crew that comes in regularly to tend to other stuff like trimming trees and hedges ... lawn care, etc.

Was thinking about planting haven't made my mind up yet. Just cut the grass for the first time today
i feel ya
just did my 1st cut the other day
no rain until next weekend so i'll start planting flower bulbs this week
then start the vegetable garden

I had to cut low for the overseeding. Lawn is looking pretty shytty right now.

I usually do my bulb planting in the fall, but I have to cut back my Knockout rose bush (put it off in the winter and now I am kicking myself cause I got all this shyt to do in the spring. I still have to get the leaves out of the garden, setup its irrigation, seeing some sprouts on my hydrange bush got to fertilize that.

I had a good laugh. My dad's a fan of Tyler James Williams & also of Abbott Elementary.

He and I weren't even talking gardening, and he emailed me this link ... I wanted to reply "Are you lurking on BGOL? Did you see 0utsyder's reply in the gardening thread?"

But then I remembered the 1st rule of Fight Club / BGOL ... and we don't talk about it.

The weather's been weird locally. We had better temps & more sunshine back in March. Even though we're now almost 1 month into spring now.

Yeah - it's been strange of late. Today is overcast and rainy. Some nice days here and there, but it really cools off at night. Getting down to around 34 - 39 degrees. It's 66 indoors at the moment with the heat off.

Props on the seeds from the library. Good choices!

I asked our guy at work if he's looking forward to the planting season, etc. He said yeah - just this weather ain't right yet. Still too cold. I was saying to him we had better weather in March at the tail-end of winter.

I would like to post pics of the garden as he brings it up to speed ... but BGOL CSI is too damn good. They'll figure out the coordinants, identify the garden space via satellite, Google Map that shit, and we have limited staffing ... and they'll probably show up at my job.

Nah, I'm not paranoid.

No...I AM your father!!!! Search your heart you know it to be true...son!

My dad ALREADY thinks I am crazy, the last thing I WOULD EVER do is mention BGOL to him! Have his pastor ass disowning me.

Kidding of course (about being your dad), but my pops was low key into gardening, but having 4 big head ass sons that are ALWAYS eating (his words) he never found the time to get into it. But after seeing what I did around my house and the garden that I setup for he and my mom he is doing more landscaping around their house. Pulling up some of those weed ass trees/bushes that are planted so he can beautify his yard.

I don't use the Myers cleaning products, but I will have to get some to support this.

Good stuff. Lol @ "you know it to be true"

Growing up we didn't have a garden, but had some patches of grass to kick the soccer ball around, and an old driveway for the basketball hoop. My grandpa had a nice set-up though. Corner lot with a small carport. So he planted grapevines above the sundeck to provide shade (and something to eat) and the garden gave him enough room to putter around and talk to neighbors walking by. He had pumpkins, cucumber, peas, lettuce, and tomatoes. Zucchini too.

Good of you to set up a nice space for him and your mom ... motivates him to try things out.

My mom downsized to a smaller house about 4 - 5 years back. She asked a friend of hers' sisters (who is a gardener - landscaper by trade) to come by her house and offer suggestions. The woman encouraged her to set up three plots (good amount of room to walk around each square / rectangle), and utilize the greenhouse as well. My mom's done pretty well with lettuce and kale ... and there's a peach tree in the corner that was already there for years.

So with the overseeding that I did last week and mowed to the lowest setting I don't have to mow (grass got long as fcuk from all the watering I did though) I got to spend my weekend getting my gardens irrigation setup for the season. Last year I copped the 4 port Orbit B-Hyve faucet timer
717rXEdb6qL._AC_UF894,1000_QL80_.jpg

So now I can take some of my other ones that I had before and use them for the plants on the side of my garage. More shaded area so I just planted hostas and they did pretty good with the manual watering that I was doing, but the hostas I have in my main garden do REALLY well with the sun and watering that they get. Getting all of the materials for the side garage irrigation and noticed that I was out of faucet to 1/2 inch tubing adapters must have used the last one at my parents so Amazon here I come!!
51A4uOvQRML.jpg

The three apple trees are starting to bud so I put down some fertilizer spikes. They're still too young to produce edible fruit. The apples that one produced last year looked like overgrown cherries.

Didn't have time to cut back all my plants in the main garden so I had to do it this time around. Rose bushes are starting to sprout/branch out so I had to cutback around them (this is why you do this shyt in the winter!)

Mulch is starting to decompose into the soil so I am thinking about getting one of those mulch services where they drop it off in your driveway cause all that bag shyt is for the birds!!!

This white cat up the street from me saw me doing an overseeding and decided that he was gonna do one too (his lawn looks like HOT GARBAGE! It's more dirt spots than grass) he put seed down, but didn't put a top dressing, didn't water it and we had nothing but 80 degree weather all last week so his seed did nothing but bake for a week. But was worried about birds eating his seed.

I mean first thing I am gonna do is pull the EXLIF data from your photos. Then look on Google Earth/Maps to see which building might have a garden. Then look that company up and check out the employees and the minute I find a fine dark skinned sista that works there (lets be realistic she could be ugly and walked by your building) I am showing up at your job looking for her and dropping your name, so you'd probably get fired...so yeah, you paranoia is justified! I call it the 0utsyder Initiative; 'will me posting this have 0utsyder get me fired?'

It was funny cause he wanted to get mad at his and the neighborhood kids for fcuking with the seeds and I am like; '...homie!!! Ain't nothing gonna grow here!!!!' He has neglected his lawn for like 4 years! When he mows DIRT comes out the side chute! He ain't mowing grass! During the summer that bytch will be full of dandelions. That his kids will pick and blow those fcuking seeds all over the neighborhood. And I truly want to help his dumb ass...BUT he nor his punk ass wife watch their chump ass kids at the bus stop (funny he found time to watch the kids fcuking with his oven baked grass seed, but not his ACTUAL seeds at the bus stop) so they and another kid try running rough shot over everybody else. So it turns into do help his punk ass out so I don't get his fcuking weeds? Do I help him so that his trash ass lawn doesn't bring down my property value? You know all the shyt white people used to be afraid of black people doing when they moved into their neighborhood...you know there should be a song about how Ironic some shyt is!!!

Good point about being worried about his seeds, but not his actual seeds at the bus stop. And having neglected his lawn for so long that it's a futile effort. Wanting to help the person ... but realizing it's sort of a lost cause at this point. Frustrating.

One of my dad's friends used to have a piece of shit front lawn. Boat out there ... bunch of garbage, broken down cars ... lawn that was years gone. Just a complete eyesore and could be featured on an outdoor version of Hoarders. We stopped by to say hello one time, and the guy was nice and all ... a character, but I immediately felt bad for all of his neighbors. His place was a mess. Everyone else's was in shape. I'm sure they had filed complaints with the city.

And it is a BUNCH of Hispanics around here. So they got their friends and family bringing extra shyt that they had for jobs, hooking their lawns up in between jobs while my black ass got my palms darker than my skin trying to make this bytch look immaculate and his ass toasting grass seed for the birds. THAT isn't frustrating. What is frustrating is that due to the pictures in his house and the pictures in my house, he may get more money for that lot of dirt he calls a home!

I was talking to a coworker on Friday ... Filipina - 30yo ... stands up in her black yoga pants and she's sort of built like HayleyXYZ (see below) ... I just kept telling myself ... "keep it professional", lol ...

And those are the urges that are second to hardest to control, with the first being that PLUS she's throwing it at you! She say she's Mexican, but the bytch look white with a tan the minute this becomes an issue Rebekah Santos becomes Becky S. The term don't shyt where you eat is a term for a reason!!!"

Yeah - it's funny 'cuz work isn't a big location, and the communal office is small. So we're doing shift exchange and she's just fine. Good person too, which in itself is attractive. She's oncall so only stops by every few months to fill in.

Funniest memory at work with a new coworker? Had to do an orientation for someone. They mentioned to me (staff communication) the person's name was MERV. I'm expecting a middle-aged or older man to show up at 6:45 - 7am. Turns out it's the shortened version of her name. And she's about 30, big titties, red sweater. Talk about being caught off-guard. I hadn't even had my morning cup of coffee yet. The fuck?

I thought about naturalizing a portion of my lawn with some perennials

I was just talking to my mom and wishing her a Happy Mother's Day. In recent years I've mentioned to her to treat herself & her boyfriend to lunch or dinner on me, or to buy herself some gifts and send me the bill to reiumburse her.

She bought herself some plants and said she was gonna send me a photo or two today. Cool - gonna pay her back later today.

For Father's Day ... I usually visit my dad (as he's local) and help him with yardwork in the AM due to his mobility issues (bad knee) and having a steep hillside out front. Then take him out for dinner later in the day.
