Antonio Brown to the Raiders

Raiders acquired WR Antonio Brown from the Steelers in exchange for third- and fifth-round picks.
Not only has Brown been traded, he has secured a new contract. Per Profootballtalk, Brown's total compensation for the next three years has increased from $38.925 million to $50.125 million, while his guaranteed money has gone from $0 to $30.125 million. In other words, he has done exceptionally well for himself. As for the Raiders, they cried poor with Khalil Mack and sold low on Amari Cooper but have decided to pay Brown. Coach Jon Gruden continues to oscillate between reload and rebuild. At some point, a coherent plan will need to formulate. The wisdom can be questioned, but there is little reason to believe 31-year-old Brown will remain anything other than one of the best players in the league in 2019. The trade compensation is hardly odious. Brown's problem will be his severe downgrade at quarterback. He will probably reach 1,200 yards for the seventh consecutive season, but Derek Carr won't make it easy.

it only took a 3rd and a 5th?!!! why the Jets didn't make an offer
cuz Antonio Brown played the biggest player power move I've seen in the NFL probably in the history of the NFL, plus he probably wouldn't have wanted to play for the Jets either.

No, I'm not discounting Reggie White and the free agency, once known as plan B free agency, but like Brooks Hatlen in Shawshank Redemption he decided not to stay.

He said he would not report to Buffalo, and I don't blame him because Josh Allen is horrible and I've told Buffalo fans raving that they have their QB of the future when this dude completed 52.8% of his passes (6 of 12 games he completed 50% of less).

Never has there been an NFL player who dictated as plainly as Antonio Brown did where he will and will not go - AND he got a raise out of the deal. He won't win mini games in Oakland/Vegas, but he'll make a shitload of guaranteed money now when he had no more guaranteed money left on his contract with Pittsburgh.

the raiders win this trade because even though they have three first-round picks, they only had to give up a third and a fifth

Mini or many? :smh:

What's the point of getting an old receiver for a rebuild? Brown's a better fit for a team that will be playing for something this year or next.

^^^ This right here
Raiders are not competing to make a deep playoff run right now
Especially with the Chiefs & Chargers being good again
Soooooo what's the point of this move ???

:hmm::hmm::hmm:

:curse:3rd & 5th rd pick for a future HoF.. ?? Brown got a good deal but damn Pittsburgh? I want to see how well they do on draft for that 3rd & 5th.

wow. ab secured the bag here lol. gonna be fun watching him and gruden's dumbass throughout the season. raiders shitshow continues

But y'all are overlooking the fact that the Raiders had to rework his contract

With AB's current contract, the Steelers had to pay his guaranteed money, even if they traded him
That meant the new team would be on the hook for paying only half his salary
And no guaranteed money for the new team meant if he acted up (T.O. behavior), they could've cut him with no cap hit at all

The Raiders had to give AB a new contract with $30 million in guarantees
Plus give him a raise to make him the highest paid WR in the NFL

Gruden is a dumbass
Glad the 9ers didn't go for this, LOL
